Slowrolling is all about slowly revealing your hand, one card at a time, to heighten the drama. The Slowroll Hype Technique allows you to flash your first pocket card, then, to everyone’s surprise, the same card again as if it were the second card! This is a fantastic tease when you’re not obligated to show your hand, but want to reveal just one card to the table.
explaining the move
Hold your pocket cards by the long edges, with your thumb on the opposite edge than your other fingers and with the back of the card to your palm. Now rotate your hand and cards face-up to show the bottom card to the players.
These steps should create the illusion that you simply throw the exposed card face down on to the table and show the other card in your hand.
After you show the first card, prepare to turn your hand back down, hiding the cards from view. Before you rotate your hand back face-down, lower your thumb and let the closet corner (the lowest point of the cards) of the cards rest on your palm. Let your thumb cross the face and hold the cards naturally. While rotating the cards back down, the tips of your fingers adjust to meet across from your thumb and sandwich the cards.
To throw the unseen card instead of the previously shown card, extend your top fingers out a little as you retain the bottom card with the friction of the thumb. Remember that all moves, from the point you first showed the bottom card to the point where you tossed the card face down, happen in one fluid motion to create the desired impression.
Once you have tossed out the top card, slowly rotate your hand up to show your "second" pocket card. I suggest a slight pause as you look at this card before you throw it onto the table face up. This is guaranteed to make a few players jump when they see the same card and realize that they didn’t get to see both cards in this hand after all.
