I can't believe that nobody is even considering for a moment that this could be true.

Having worked as a games consultant for some of the larger internet gaming sites (incl. Pokerstars, Party Gaming, Bodog, and Full Tilt Poker) and being a professional poker player myself, I can attest that software developers DO in many cases embed so-called "easter eggs" into their gaming software. The nature of my work with Pokerstars limited my exposure to the software side, but an example of this would be the "multitabling" easter egg:

1. When you go into the "Advanced Multitabling Options" menu, uncheck all the items and then click "Ok"
2. Reopen the menu immediately and recheck all the items and click "Ok"
3. A dialog box should appear with the question "Are you a rakeback grinder?"
4. Click "Yes"
5. A $200 Bonus should be credited to your account, with an unlock rate of 20 VPPs per $1

Now I can't confirm that the particular easter egg that the OP mentioned is real, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The developers are constantly updating the sites, changing softwares, and once an egg becomes too well known, they remove it and replace it with something else. Back in 2007 on Pokerstars for example, the time notification beep was tuned to the pitch of the note G. However, if you were on the river and facing a bet, you could wait until the time bank almost ran out, and if your hand was good, the very last beep right before your hand is folded was tuned to the note G-sharp. It was subtle and you had to be fast to click "Call", but I managed to make a healthy profit from this particular egg.

Nowadays, I mainly play on Full Tilt, and just 2 years ago they had an egg where if you were facing a greater than pot sized bet or raise on either the turn or river, if you clicked "Time" and waited until the timebank was almost expired, an image of a telephone flashed across the screen if you hand was best. Now this image flashed VERY quickly, almost subliminally, and I never would have noticed if I didn't have a chat with one of my friends who worked on the program. But it was there, and I managed to make a good profit with that egg until they removed it a few months later. I actually give that egg credit for being one of the main reasons I was able to rise so quickly into the nosebleed stakes.

So while I haven't had time to check out the OPs claim, I really would not be surprised if it was true. You guys need to be more open minded about these things; who knows, you could maybe even make a good profit from them! If you guys have any questions about these sorts of things, I would be glad to share.

I tried this trick live at my local casino 1/2 game, but even though I was wearing my PokerStars hoodie and sunglasses, and slid my chips smoothly into the center of the pot right away with 7 high on the river, my opponent showed me quads.

wtf?!? lol?!
