Count me in, I'd like that too... Peepz at work love the Huggins free huggs video...

I offered a guy here $500 to come in to work and hug everyone and I'd ship 5 large to him..

Who cares if human resources would be escorting him off the premises.

Hey Jared how much have you accepted so far? Now that your back on your feet will you stop accepting donations or at least donate any further transfers to charity?

Please do not avoid these questions, I think BBV has the right to know how much money has been donated and where the money will end up now that you are living properly.

Mods, please do not move this post. I am just seeking information.

Thanks

Nobody has a 'right to know'. It's up to the donators and Jared if they want to disclose that information.

Well after receiving tons of extremely generous donations I think it is common courtesy for Jared to disclose this information. I don't see why there has been so much hesitation, perhaps if people read the thread and realized how much cash has come Jared's way the donations would stop? After reading this thread I have seen donators ask for a $ amount and Jared still hasn't provided that figure.

Again, these posts are in the correct thread. I have expressed my opinions in the official opposition thread but any posts I have made in this thread are not derogatory in any way. I am just looking for information.

Jared: please respond when you get the chance.

Thanks

Why is it common courtesy? Anyway if it bothers you that much go through the thread and tot it up. Most people that have donated have commented ITT with 'shipped X amount' etc.

I was extremely intrigued by this thread at first and took the time to read the entire thread from front to back. I noticed that donators asked for a count of $ collected several times and their posts went unanswered. Almost all charities share these statistics and although Jared certainly isn't a genuine charity, he should be no different.

Also, the vast majority of people in this thread didn't take the time to read the entire thing which can be quite misleading. I think that many people hear the "Jared Huggins" story and assume he is still in some sort of "terrible" situation. If Jared could provide us with an exact number BBVers could quickly assess his current situation and then make a decision based on that.

Stacknsteady, people have pretty much stopped sending me money, except for a few bucks here and there for a boomswitch, so that's a moot point.

My life is way better now, I rent a room in Torrance from a former pastor, and I work two part time jobs. I am hugely grateful to 2+2.

As far as the exact total of $ I've received, I'd rather not say at the moment, unless there was a compelling reason. There are a vocal minority of people who are angry that my life is better. They send me hate mail/hate email/hate private messages/hate facebook messages and call me every name you can imagine. They hate the fact that I was able to turn my life around and they hate that I got a single penny. I don't want to have to deal with these people right now any more than I have to.

The people who shipped me $ did so knowing every detail you can imagine about my life and seemed to prefer to do so in a private manner.

First time long time? no derail intended, cliff notes at end. Disclaimer: I'm pretty stoned

200 miles in to my 760 mile drive home for Christmas on Thursday the 23rd my truck broke down on the I-5. Yada yada yada, the mechanic drops me off 60 miles away at the nearest rental car lot 18 hours later. The truck's title has gone from my glovebox to his filing cabinet and a few hundo has gone from his wallet to mine. Yada yada yada i return to the Avis rent-a-car on Thursday the 30th with a nearly emptied wallet, just barely catching a city bus headed to the Amtrak, which will take me to the subway, to a bus, to my room. 19 hour day of travel + 11.5 hours of poker podcasts = 7.5 hours listening to music.

Walking up the hill to my room listening to the end of 2p2 pokercast's year in review, I decide to look in to this Huggins character while enjoying some much needed 'norcal medicine' after a shower and some pb&j. I need an alternative to dwelling on how "rough my life is", leaving my family and friends to return to Berkeley where everyone I've met in the last 4 months has gone home to visit their families for winter break. Without transportation for the first time in over 9 years, since I was 19.

Thirty minutes in to finding this thread and taking my desperately needed remedy I realize I've completely zoned out and haven't read past the OP. I vow to reopen the thread tomorrow before passing out. Yada yada yada I start and finish this thread (and the linked videos, OPs posts in other threads, opposition thread) in one sitting over the span of several hours leading up to the clock striking midnight on 2010.

***The post gets a bit un-derailed***

After finishing reading your story and this thread I called and talked to my mom for a bit. She's throwing a party so we couldn't talk long. I did have enough time to tell her how much she means to me, how much I look up to her for breaking her family's cycle, how grateful I am to always have a place to go where I can feel safe and welcome and loved.

She has gone through difficult things in her life that are different though similar to your experiences. Having a child (me) was the thing that helped her turn her life around. I try to feel grateful for that bit of 'run good' every day.

I too have been through some troubles, living on the streets for a few months after running away towards the beginning of my extended youthful rebellion and with my dealer towards the end. I too have shown an addictive personality in most aspects of my life (drugs, eating habits, hobby obsessions, women, etc).

But I always had a support system fortified by my mom and step dad. They were always there for me backing me up, even if I didn't always recognize it.

[ ] not meant to be a twisted brag
[X] it seems to me that OP is breaking his family's cycle

You've faced down life and come out 'on top', and from here on out it's all just gravy. Still keep on the accelerator and keep your eyes on your sobriety and ambitions, but just know that you have already accomplished something great with your life. The impact that you have on others through this thread and your charitable ambitions are amazing and should not be dismissed. However I believe that it is your perspective, the way in which you choose to view and relate with the world, which is a life's worth of accomplishment. For real. Self-awareness, persistence, passion...with these things everything is possible. Nothing without.

For a New Year's Eve spent alone, reading this thread was the nuts.

I've lurked these forums for the past seven months or so, and often I've considered registering but I've never gotten past the user name field. Historically, the chances of me coming up with a user name that I'll hate are = the chances OP appears on The Big Game. (A lock, right?)

So thanks for what is I'm pretty sure the first user name I will enjoy and a well spent holiday alone. Even if this is a huge level, I got something out of it so meh. I'm taking something away from my experience of reading this thread, and my user name will be a reminder.

Happy New Year all.

cliffs:

truck broke down on trip home for xmas --> sold truck to mechanic --> home for xmas --> rental cars and gas are expensive --> terrible long day travelling --> felt sorry for self --> smoked pot --> went to sleep --> read this thread --> compare/contrast --> clarified intent --> called mom, said thanks for being awesome --> registered for 2p2 --> told OP he's awesome

cliffs for cliffs:

nh Jared. first post, cut me some slack. see y'all in MSNLHE forum

That vocal minority hates themselves and the air they breathe, so dont worry.
Good to hear things are better.

Thank you very much. yeah, should hear something soon. In the mean time I'm getting ready. Getting coaching, going over hand histories, putting in volume. So far so good.

Looking forward to seeing your $100 to $1 million challenge. Wishing you an excellent 2011. Looking forward to chatting with you soon. Thank you
