How to stop jumping stakes! How to stop jumping stakes!

If I take bad beats at 5nl or run bad at $3.50 hyper HU sngs, I can't stop myself wanting to win the money back fast! Suddenly I'm playing $7, $15 and $30 hypers!

It's like I'm not prepared to have a losing session.

I recently read though, that winning players lose 1/3 of sessions on average.

How can I stop this type of tilt? Is this type of tilt normal? ( jumping stakes )

Make a decision in your head that you will not play any other stake than the stake that you have decided to play. Or if that does not work do not click the register button on a higher stake. That my friend it is the only way.

Winning players (mostly) have discipline. No one is tilt proof, but my policy to avoid such things has been to walk away after a loss, take some time and come back once re-centered.

I know PS has that feature; you can exclude yourself from certain stakes.

no op, but i have a better plan for you instead of playing the $15 and $30 hypers, jump right into the $100 hypers if you start tilting at the 3.50's. usually works for me.

Just start at the higher stakes at the beginning of your session, if you lose most of your bankroll at the beginning of a session you can't jump anymore but only fall down in stakes.

You could give yourself a punishment of fapping to gay porn. Every time you bust a stack you have to bust a nut fapping to gay porn. You aren't very likely to bust too many stacks(nuts).

Usually, when I'm in a losing session and steaming, I go to roulette, bet the double amount I lost to poker (all on red, always) and vamooooos !
Works about 1/3 of times on average.

Oh and also this, obv :

So some stuff to report. (For anyone who even cares) btw, This is way too noob to be posted in BBV, so don't read any further if you're hoping to hear about how I'm 20 grand in debt and have lost everything having ran bad at 5nl.)

I'm only playing very casually these days, I say these days... The highest I've played regularly 25nl (lol). Anywhoo, I'm moving into a new apartment with my gf in two weeks, so having to save money etc for washing machines etc and what not (the cheapest I can find are £160!? Wtfs going on there!) so my last deposit a week or so ago was $100 for 5nl, to spew about with.

Through bordem bad play and tilt, my roll sat at $80 after 5-10k hands.

So I fire up 8 tables at 5nl (usually play 4) and my rolls at $50 almost momentarily. Wtf. Can I not even beat 5nl?

Tilt is here. I fire up the Hyper HUSNGs. Fluctuate between $40-$70 for a while before losing ~9 in a row, mainly $7 HUSNGs. The beats are relentless, I'm ahead a LOT, but can't win a flip (not even flip) 70-30s etc.

I'm raging. Immediately fire $15 back on, lose a $15 hyper. Fire another $15, win. Lose two 15s, back to 0. I go to sleep, pissed.

Morning is here, $15 back into Pokerstars. Stacks are around 70% - 30% in my favour. Lose KQss v 89ss on JK10 flop, turn 7 river 8. WOW.

Last ONE. Win a $15, roll is 30. Win the rematch, 45. Win rematch #2, $60 roll now. Guy is active in the chat box after I cooler him to take a 920 v 80 chip lead, telling me to go to 30s. I tell myself, quit after this one. He wins every flip and ends up winning after I'm 920 v 80 I think, I run, if I lost the rematch id go on monkey tilt.

I play a $7 and win.

My roll sits at around $50. I'm happy I've made some money back. My feeling atm is relief. But I'm tired and stressed, I'm staying up into the early hours playing poker, when usually I'm asleep pretty early (I start work at 7:30am usually) I've told myself countless times that playing underolled only ends one way, busto. And it's effectively like flushing notes down the toilet.

I need all the money I can save atm, for my new apartment and life with my gf.

I know it's only small amounts of money here, but I'm only young and don't have much saved.

Do I withdraw the ~$50 and say, stop being a ****ing degen? Overall this deposit I've lost between 60 and £70, I can live with that.

Do I remove poker from my life when I move in with my gf? (She doesn't know very much about me playing, stakes etc, I say I play for pennies for fun sometimes, the usual bs). I'm kinda scared things might escalate someday somehow. I'm very levelheaded in everyday life, and VERY tight about spending money. Poker just brings out a devil in me.

Advice for this micro limit degening?

If you play on stars you can set $ limits for MTT's and SNG's, that's one thing I would advice.

It all has to do with mentality, it doesn't matter how bad or good you run when playing those out-of-your-bankroll limits. It's just the fact that you shouldn't be playing those. What you're doing there is gambling or chasing losses so to say. Eventually this will tear you down, both mentally and financially. (If you have a decent change of going broke it will ultimately happen).

Grind up a roll within your limits, if you can't do that poker is not for you and I would ban it out of your life completely then. Or play occassionaly as a recreational for fun, although few people are made for that.

Happened to me as well many times before I actually took into consideration some advice
Well, the harsh truth is that you truly are a degen, but there's pills and everything for it.
I joke man, only you can stop yourself from being a degen by restricting your buy in limits , get a proper roll if u want 2 play poker or keep doing the same thing if u wanna gamble.
The truth is this is actually pretty common nowadays, I love variance.
And yes, If I would find myself playing with you I would tell you to increase the stakes so if you lose one game your tilted and doomed to go busto =).
Get over it, restrict your table limits and therefore you won't be busting your br that quick.I mean, you will, cause you will still lose and that's what drives you crazy and that's why you increase the stakes.[And that's when you're going to play The Hot 7.50 and tournaments like that hoping for a big payday with 3b.i in your roll]
That's why recreational players thinks ROI is overrated and they can sustain a 180281% ROI and be PRO's if they're winning 3 30$ hypers.
