You could have called her:
"Oh really?! I've always wanted to learn how to bet on dogs. Will you show me how?"
Or you could have re-raised back and put her to a difficult decision:
"OK. So if you win your money back with the dogs, you can take me out to dinner, and if you don't win it back I'll take you out. Or would you rather do drinks and a movie?"
