A BBV story of stupidity
My buddy and I were on a poker tour. We started in Daytona at his local room, took a Casear's charter Jaxville to Tunica for a 4 day getaway, and ended the adventure back in a Jax cardroom. Along the way I got to bluff Chris Moneymaker a few times and after all expenses, I made $4K and my buddy was over $2K, so it was a fun 5 days.
The last day of almost nonstop poker in Tunica, we are 8 handed, $1/$3, and I have a $500 stack. I'm holding A
7 and haven't played a hand in a half hour.
A weak player who has previously opened from EP and folded to my aggression opens to $12. He gets called by an older gentleman in HJ who calls a lot of preflop bets and clearly plays fit or fold. I raise to $35 expecting to take down the pot, but the HJ calls. Uh Oh.
Flop = K

HJ checks, I bluff C-bet $55 and get called. Uh Oh. If the next card isn't an A or a, I'm going to have to give up.
Turn = 2 So I have outs. HJ checks and I bet $120. He angrily calls, Uh Oh.
River = 3 giving me the nut flush. HJ checks and I pause to think. The bluffiest thing I can think of is to push two dirty and uneven stacks into the pot. The dealer counts it as $181 and the HJ calls and clearly he thinks I'm bluffing. Yes!
I announce nut flush. But when I turn my cards over, I had misread my cards...in a good way A5. what an idiot! I was paid a $200 high hand bonus. I don't think I would have played my hand any differently had I known my true hand, but I was so shocked to see the str8flush that I couldn't hide how stupid I had been.
The next bit of fun was that the first hand we played at Jax BestBet, my buddy flopped quad 9s and earned a $1400 high hand.
A good trip.
