Might I ask how did you get to this point? Congrats on getting to the safe zone at least for now. But surely you realize long term there is no reason your strategy is going to be successful so therefore it will eventually fail, especially with roulette. Why would someone want to make -ev bets with money they don't have in the first place? Once your at the point you were and its the only way out I get it.

I'm legitimately curious how you're a "functioning" human being.

I think people write books/make videos/coach/etc for several reasons:

1) They haven't thought it through--> they don't know it's bad for the game.
2) They know it's bad for the game, but they don't care.
3) They know it's bad for the game, but think there is a market for it that will be supplied by someone else if not them.
4) They are sick of variance/want an income stream that can only go one way.
5) They look at poker as a sport (obv they have money from somewhere else).
6) They can no longer win as much as they like playing, so they cash in.
7) They like the fame/notoriety.
8) They are delusional and actually believe they "like teaching" or "like helping people" or whatever else they respond with when grilled by other pros.

I personally don't believe in any of it (I've been approached about coaching a ton, and I def feel like I could write a book on live nl that could make any good player great). But I'm not mad at the people who do it for the most part. I just chalk it up to philosophical differences.

Plus... there is soooooooooo much to live poker that cannot be taught.

Rapidesh i understand where your coming from but i really dont believe in this mindset, knowledge should not be coveted and withheld from people who want to learn.

coaching doesnt make the games harder, the shrinking ecosystem is what makes the games harder, if we want to get back to 'the way it was' when all the games were soft we should focus on getting new players into the game and growing poker

the category of players who want to pay for information and study off the tables is relatively small anyway

our goal should not be to keep fish in the dark, poker should continue to grow and our understanding of theory should get deeper as the average skill level increases

Which one of those is your reason for sharing your strat with everyone in your thread?

For one, our motives are different. I started posting strat on here when I needed to get a lot better at poker when I moved to Vegas (I couldn't get by on soul reads alone anymore). I kinda got hooked on it and was admittedly spilling way too much in my quest to get really really good. I never did it to try to make others better/teach anyone anything though. I was made aware (this is pretty cra, but iirc I think it was actually Bart who told my friend he thought I was giving too much away for free, and my friend relayed that to me and it opened my eyes a little) of my strat spew a few years ago and I have cut back immensely (a lot less detail, a lot less explanation/"showing my work", etc). Unfortunately, I learn best by composing though, so I'll prob always post some. And ofc I learn a ton from other people's posts and the feedback back and forth.

Second, I feel like those within this community with the aptitude and work ethic and discipline to not only absorb but also apply the new things myself and others post in here occasionally are going to get there anyways. I along with the jimmyvjv's, aaismyfriend's, pizzlefosho's (when he posted), lucid dream's etc of 2p2 do not really work with people to help them understand stuff though. We post some cool **** once in a while and move on. It's give and take. Not providing a service for a fee, no advertising, etc.

Third, I only post/discuss games and spots that are interesting and applicable to me. Unless I'm really rusty or just playing bad, I only post in 10-20+ hands cuz I haven't really played 5-10 in like 2 years.

Note: while I prob do have some key strat tips itt and some more floating around in other threads (mostly old ones), the majority of my keyboard spew on 2p2 these days is a crusade to make games better/healthier, by shunning nittery and always putting the rec player on a pedestal.

2nd note: there is def a lot of gray area here, so I think your question is v good. And if I am being hypocritical, I'm glad you brought it to my attention for real. The live poker world can be extremely disillusioning, especially when you are a road dog and you never sleep . Hopefully this discussion continues/people more rested than I chime in with some better writing and clearer thoughts on the topic. Maybe I'll revisit this myself in a few days when I'm semi-normal again/caught up on some sleep.
