HOLD ON I THOUGH YOU HAD A K lol, I need glasses, anyway then this was a TERRIBLE CALL by you, I guess I assumed no one would do this without AK at the very least LOL. Well anyway for anyone interested, I do show bellow how this call may be break even, or sometimes better against a total maniac who bets air, IF you have A K, certainly not K 7 of spades though, WTF lol, glad I double check, my mind is funny, I just figured this has to be AK ha ha.
The bellow analysis is based on the assumption that Hero had A K. Was interesting to look at as I learned a few things about AK from this happy accident.
You should have made a bigger raise pre flop since you are out of position and wanting to price out the BB and also reduce the SPR making it easier to play OOP.
Against this opponent who bluffs, I think your call is OK if you want to flip, because with the pot odds and equity you have against his value hands and bluffs, some that beat you such as over played low pairs, or some betting for value thinking you do not have trips.
With the pot odds you are about 33 percent equity which is break even here because he will have trips about 33 percent, Ace high 33 percent and some pair 20 percent. Based on his betting pattern I think the range I put in flop zilla is pretty accurate, if it is much wider than this then a call becomes a good play, like if he is a crazy drunk fish type betting 80 percent of hands. Sometimes we see these players, especially in live games.
He very well may have put you on AK and is raising his pocket pair, though he just calls the turn etc which seems to indicate no trips. In any case the guy is a fish so you should be able to find a better spot than flipping with your stack.
I figured out your equity with the assumption that you are basically committing your stack on this flop when calling the raise and can look at it virtually as an all in on flop. I put in what I think his value and bluffing range may look like from the BB, if anyone thinks any other hands should be added then please let me know. I also weighted some of the pocket pairs to about 40 percent.
Not raising larger when out of position is the main thing that I believe you did wrong here. I think the play is OK against this opponent if you want to flip, but be aware that you are crushed by part of his bluffing range i.e. low pairs, that have you crushed at about 4 to 1.
The call was OK, though I do not like it because why flip with a fish where you can get his money with much better odds.
