The part time day job is only an insurance for those months where you can't take money out of the poker venture in case of run bad or not playing because the weathers to nice and you'd rather be out partying those nights.
If you hate "slave/drone job" so much, why wouldn't you play poker "for insurance" instead? Oh right, because you actually cannot sustain that $20 hourly rate playing slave/drone poker.

If you need a job to fund your gambling habit, you're certainly not a winning player.

Meant to say: FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, LET THEM COME TRUE!

I'm not very good at English yet so mistakes like this happen.

I bought my house with money predomiantly coming from poker, I've never worked a part time job (max 3 days a week) for longer that 3 months in my life, I'd say I'm doing fine.
The day job is only for months I don't play poker and want to party or hang out with friends instead.
And who said my day job is slave/drone work. I make money doing my other hobby (flipping cars and parts) which feels less like work than poker does.

you and most players. But the problem is when you start losing whether it’s bad beats or otherwise, and you’re $20 an hour net becomes losing $10 an hour

That's what a bankroll is for.

generally speaking a hourly isn't short term its based on sustained growth based on long periods of time.

example:
you play 1 million hands in a year with losing and winning days you find your hourly to be for me $4 usd an hour I even had a losing month where I was down $400 USD at 5nl, but pulled through it. if I didn't have that losing month I would be on like $4.50 an hour.

25nl would be nice I hear the hourly long term is like $10 an hour across 4-6 tables.

If I got to 25nl and pulled $500 usd a week long term over several years I'd be super happy.
I would never play higher then 50nl

I know someone who has won over 100k in tournaments $10 and under with a lucky bink for 30k in one that was like $55 as a shot take.

The guy lives in new zealand has a degree and everything completed univesity/college and can't even get a job his trying to get disability payments.

currently his being staked 25k USD to play tournaments with 70% of what he wins going back in the hands of the staker and 30% going to him and his barely cashing at all what a ****ty situation.

I play 5nl and i'm talking to him his like I got $2 in my bank account im like okay and your being staked for 25k and his like yep..

Every 2 weeks I get my DSP (Disability support payment) of $1100 aud.

I pay $270 rent, 50 electricity, 65 phone and 15 mobile and $150 food i'm left with $550 a fortnight or $225 a week.

I have a bank account with 3 accounts linked to it.

First account is my "cheque" account or general based account where money comes and goes from deposits, withdrawals etc and using card at the shops.

Then I put $80 into a savings account(vacation account), $200 into another one(real savings) and $100 into a bankroll account(for poker+ whatever I pull playing online for the week goes into this account too) "almost at 15k" and I spend the rest of the money going out to the RSL or pub to play poker and eat food or to the movies or beach or something.

This guy goes to me hey mate do you want to get staked standard deal like me.

and I'm sitting there talking to him on skype thinking are u ****ing for real you have $2 in your account completely qualified for multiple jobs and you are playing 90% of your day full time online while living with your parents @ 30+ years old.

I responded, no I'm good, thanks anyway.

True story.

dunno why i posted it but I don't care.

he binked a tournament for almost 30k usd and blew it all in 1.5 months on drugs, alcohol etc.
