Playing this morning, in a slowish but not terrible field at my home course, due to holiday. The guys behind kept hitting up on us, despite us keeping up. The course is very dry, so a good drive goes a LOOOONG way, but after 3 balls had rolled up around my ankles while we waited for the green to clear, I was getting p1ssed.
The 16th hole is a blind tee shot, with a long downhill to the green. Hole is 300m, of which 100m is downhill. If you really crush it, you can drive the green in summer, but you are at risk of running off the fairway into trouble on the left, and can't see your ball from the tee once it disapears over the crown of the hill. Sure enough, as I am walking up to my drive, morans behind us tee off. One of the drives is a monster, and nearly makes the green. Happily, it takes a bad kick, rolls off the fairway left, and nestles up against the bole of a tree, nearly hidden, about 20m from the green. He is probably never finding it. As my mate is putting out, I write a note for the maron, telling him his ball is behind the tree, and he should stop being a dick, imo
As I put out, I drop the note in the hole, and we walk off the green. As we tee off, they are playing their second shots, while morain heads down the fairway, loooking for his monster drive. I wave at him, and point at the hole making a sign that it went in. The last we see of them, he is high fiving his mates.
