Colin is surprised that he has never heard of this guy. Then Colin sees that he never swam at the Olympics. Colin watches the swimming intensely at the olympics but not much elsewhere. RIP

Everyone thought he would be the new great Chinese star back in 2010, when he won 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze in the youth Olympics. Same year he won gold in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, and silver in the 4 × 100 m freestyle and medley relays, at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. He made it to the senior Australian swimming team at the age of 17 and won gold in the 100m medley, silver in the 200m medley and bronze in the 100m breaststroke. He then was badly injured, battled with that for several years. He continued making great progress untill 2014 where he suffered a severe back injury. After several back surgeries he came back in ~2017 and was considered one of the favourites to take medals at the 2020 Ol.

Danish Martin Madsen tried to beat the record last year in Mexico. He couldn't quite cope with the transition from Danish climate to Mexican, but he still only failed to beat Wiggins' record with ~600 meters, which is the 2nd best distance ever in the world.

Campenaerts will move to Mexico 3 weeks before the attempt to fix that problem

The Dane did something similar, if Sammy remembers correctly. He complained about having been sick most of the time though, probably because of some imported Belgian food. He lives in Belgium and for some reason likes the country and the food. Sammy hopes Campenaerts wins it though. Sammy likes him.
