Alrighty, 5,000 posts special!
So... as I said below I went up to New York after a stint in Costa Rica. People generally have strong feelings about New York, they either love it or hate it. I can see why it would turn people off, but I fall into the "I love New York" crowd. Not enough to wear one of those shirts declaring it, but it is love.
I've now been to New York 3 times in my life. Outside of Australia, California and Rob's mum's house, it's my most visited destination and I have every intentions of making it a regular on my itinerary every time we go to America. There is just something about the place. We spend all day just walking up and down the roads looking at the pretty buildings and home fronts. Maybe I'm easily entertained by bright flashy things.
And then there's the Pizza. **** me dead I'd be 1,000kgs (2,200 pounds for you Americans) if I lived in New York. $3 or $4 for a meal including a drink that tastes like orgasms. Sold.
Unfortunately that's about the only thing that is cheap in New York. Accommodation is just ******edly expensive. Just so you know, as an Aussie, America is cheap. Real cheap (thank you Aussie Dollar and ****ed up American economy). Except in New York. ****ing tourists forcing up the price!
I find it weird, yet awesome, that if I want something at 3am I can go for a walk down the street and pass 100 people like it's 2pm in the afternoon. Dat's New York.
After New York we flew North to see a bit of Canada, including one of my other favorite cities in the world, Toronto. This is just a great city. Completely different to New York. It's cleaner, everyone is nicer and there are no beggars. And most importantly the woman are smoking hot. It probably has something to do with not being exposed to much sun. Yes Canada is cold. In fact many years ago I thought about moving to Canada and the ONLY reason I didn't was it is just too cold. When I was there one of the days got to 27 degrees Celsius (80 degrees F) and the Canadian's thought they would all melt and kept talking about how humid was. I wore my jumper to about midday.
So in New York / Toronto I met up with my folks who I hadn't seen since I left over a year ago. Mum misses me. She cried because she misses my awesomeness. I keep telling her that she still has a son living at home, who's 30 (the exact opposite to me). That should be enough. Guess I'll see them again in another year. I only bring this up because she told me that she doesn't know any Rob from 2+2.
After New York we have been in Barbados for 6 weeks (another post as this one is getting long).
So the plans for the rest of the year are as follows. In less than 1 week...
- Amsterdam for 4 nights
- Brussels for 2 nights
- Paris for 4 nights
- Road Trip around Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy for a month
- 1 week Cruise around the Greek Islands / Croatia
- 1 week road trip around Croatia
- And then to England for October
After that it gets a bit fuzzy. November and December will most likely be in Europe somewhere and will depend on what house sits we can get. We will be in Vegas for New Years, before traveling up to Vancouver early / mid January. The plan then is to stay in Canada for a while.
The major problem I see from October onwards is I'm going to get cold (and yes I realize my problem isn't a bad problem to have, but it's my thread, so if I want to complain about something I will!). I don't like the cold. I never have and it was one of the reasons I lived in Queensland in Australia. And to compound the problem I think I'll be worse than I use to be due to the conditions I have been living in recently. By then I would have lived 2 straight years in summer weather. We have traveled following the sun and stuck to warm places. If it has been cold, it's been for a day here and there. Now I'm going to be cold for months on end. I remember being in Banff several years ago wearing 24 layers of clothes and still needing to go into every second shop just so I could warm up. So we will see how I go.
Ok, poker update
Brag: I don't have any
Beat: I intended to grind 45 mans while in Barbados. I did for a while, but I bust my ass to break even. I don't generally tilt, but I ran so bad that I got upset and wanted to kick the cat, so I cut back to only played a few times a week, just for fun.
Variance: Playing less meant I could look at more Barbados bums.
Now I know you are a visual lot, so here are the pretty pictures.
