The LA Experience
I was lucky enough to spend a month in LA and I thought I would fill you in on my experience there. As you know LA is very high on the weird and wonderful scale. Las Vegas might be the only place I've been that is higher. We stayed just outside of Hollywood in a little one bedroom place. Heaps of stuff within a short walk and we, surprisingly, found public transport quite easy to get around on.
I was really slack on taking photos as we had been there before several times and my phone is just a cheap piece of junk, not for photo taking.
I'm sure a lot of people have been to LA and it is definitely where the "beautiful people" are (that's what we call them). As long as you are in the right area of LA you will be made to feel quite inadequate (fortunately there are plenty of areas within the USA that make me feel very attractive). Every second person seems to drive a sports car here. In fact you look at some people and go "Oh, you only drive a BMW... Are you one of the poor people?".
Santa Monica/Venice Beach
It's usually a great walk along the beach here, but it was smoggy/foggy, so taking photos was pointless. The people watching here is amazing, and we always get a drink and watch people walk past.
Hollywood
Well we stayed here, so we spent a lot of time walking around. We went to a few of the late night shows (Jimmy Kimmel and some other guy who I forget). I don't find Jimmy funny at all, but it was fun. Betty White and Jamie Fox were the guests. Then they had Jamie Fox sing some songs after the show (he just released an album) with the guy that bashed Rihanna (how do women like this guy?) and TI (never heard of him before). The songs sounded like run of the mill rap. Seeing Jamie Fox with the crotch of his pants below his knees was so lol. I think he has forgotten he's 47 years old and can't do that **** anymore. And yes, Betty White is as hot in real life as on the TV. Seriously though, she's funny, but really old. She needed to be moved around slowly with help once the cameras went off.
The other night show had Courtney Cox. The gf is/was a huge fan of Friends and Cougar Town, so that was fun.
We then went to the premier of the new Avengers movie. It was pretty packed and we didn't have a great view. Got some terrible photos though.
The legend himself - Stan Lee - Was there early and raced down the red carpet
Jeremy Renner - The Arrow - Stopped and signed a heap of autographs, even took a picture with this kid.
Chloe Bennet - I think she is in the TV show Shield. She had the best dress of the evening...
MingNa Wen - She's on the Shield show too - Don't think she is in the movie. She definitely went all out on her dress.
Kelli Berglund - Someone I had never heard of, but the photo was good...
Elizabeth Olsen - She's in the movie - One of the new Avengers
Iron Man himself - seriously this was a blink and you would miss it moment. What he did was have 6 security guys around him and almost ran down the red carpet. The girls were definitely disappointed. He must have had some issues with people at these things in the past. There were only two people that did this. Him and Samuel L Jackson. Everyone else stopped for autographs.
Colbie Smulders - I use to be a big HIMYM fan, so this was pretty cool. Super skinny in real life.
Scarlett Johansson - semi famous actor you may know about
Runyon Canyon Park
Every second day we use to walk up Runyon Canyon Park. From where we stayed it was a 2 kilometer walk with 200 meter elevation. I was going to convert for the Americans, but it's about time you learned metric. You know, like the rest of the world. The good news is the metric system is really easy, that's why people use it. Sounds silly doesn't it.
Anyway, the walk was always semi crowded, but great for watching the "beautiful people". We played the game "What work has she had done?", "Is she semi famous?". We could have easily seen some famous people, but unless they are really famous I wouldn't have a clue. Apparently we saw Iggy Azalea. This meant a lot to my gf. She's a big fan.
NBA Game
Got to go to a game between Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers. I'm a GSW fan, so had a great time. Really expensive though. The night cost about $600.
San Diego
We spent a weekend down in San Diego. I've only spent about 96 hours there in my life, but I think I could live there. Great city. Not too big, not too small. Great feel about it. Good weather. We visited the zoo while we were there. After visiting Craggoo's mom we had a look around the rest of the zoo. It's huge. Here are some random photos.
He looks comfortable
Here's some random photos of our time there...
Really do love LA. Could live there if the American Government didn't keep kicking us out.
