Happened the other day, we agreed not to play against each other / bet against each other

heres what happened....

decent 2/5 game

random guy makes it 20
friend calls 20
I look down to two black KK and make it 90
random guy folds
friend waits a few seconds then calls another 70

flop is J 2 6 with 2 and 6 being diamonds

we both check because we agreed not to bet, I'm thinking he had AK / AQ or some other premium hand

turn is a 5 of diamonds

both check

river is a 8 of diamonds

he flops over queen jack off suit, with queen being a diamond.

He called my 4bet for an additional $70 because "he was priced in"

who is in the wrong here for "agreeing not to play against each other / betting against each other"?

My take is that if he had a legit hand, then thats poker. he called with a queen high to try to crack my hand or whatever. I don't want his $ as we were there to take other peoples money.

You should punch him in the face and shag his mum

Also report him to the IRS because I bet he isn't going to declare that $200 (less rake) in his taxes

yes because i would be pissed he was trying to get involved in a hand against me that he had no business in. If he had ak, aq, a pocket pair...something decent i wouldn't care, qj off was a garbage hand.

So you've made prearranged agreements on what you will do in certain situations.

Do you know what colluding is?

you're both colluding mother ****ers and should be banned from all casinos. There’s no place for soft play in poker

This. Although on the other hand, them actually agreeing to do this probably means they are both huge fish anyways, so maybe we shouldn't tap the tank too hard here.

Just cross book your money for that session. Then you do not have to be a softplaying scumbag. You can be a fastplay scumbag.

so you and your friend were cheating and he beat you.

Sounds to me like you should both get a perma ban from the poker room and have your pictures sent to all other poker rooms to alert them that you are a cheat.

Its pieces of **** like you that give poker a bad name.

Hey OP, you know that thing about "Cheaters Never Prosper?" It's actually not true. Cheaters prosper all the time, sometimes greatly. Like those cheating bastards on Wall Street, look how prosperous those guys are.

In your situation, your cheating friend prospered. You, on the other hand, did not, making you both a cheater and a loser at the same time. So there you go.

Agreeing not to play/ bet against a friend in a ring game is borderline collusion. It annoys me to no end when I for example see a husband/ wife pair play in a cash game together and check the nuts down heads up or even worse both stack off light against a 3rd party to rip them off taking their combined equity against said 3rd party.

Any self-respecting married couple makes their relationship obvious; upping the ante for banter and comradery, along with fair play.
