This post may get a bit preachy. I just don't see how people continue to berate this guy for being one of the most real people online. He not only posts real life stories but he provides a lot of information to confirm it's him. He goes the extra mile time and time again to provide free entertainment for us.

He spent a ton of time writing these stories and finding evidence/supplement videos for us. But even after this, people seem to feel like OP has an obligation to continue to post stories for us. Instead of being appreciative and encourage him to post, people go after him on moralistic and KS reasons. The guy is risking his relationship, friendships, and livelihood by posting these stories but people are going to cry about him trying to get a few hundred dollars in trip fees reduced? If you don't want to do it, then ignore the post and stop whining.

I don't know how comp structures work so this might not be too helpful but if I was the OP, I'd try to find a Vegas regular to join your group. I'm sure you could find someone with a ton of comp points they can use for lodging and food to reduce expenses in return for being part of the story.

Thank you, I prefer these supportive posts much more. Forget KS though, I'm so sick of hearing about it. I'm truly glad it flopped, so I'm not preoccupied with working on a trip report the whole stay. I get to just enjoy the trip and degen it up freely now.

I just got confirmation on group to go. Poker Jay, Strip Poker Steve, and my gambling buddy James/Ocean are going. Also have one other friend that I haven't talked about. The Slot Guru just backed out today. So I plan on booking the trip tonight or tomorrow. I have been in contact through PM's with other 2+2ers who want to schedule a trip the week I'm going or meet up out there. Would be nice if I personally knew a Vegas regular to help out with comps. If anyone who can arrange comps wants to get together 9/3-9/9 please let me know.

Did you try your total rewards comps from AC? Unfort Harrahs have choked offers down big time over past few years and it's possible the offers between the cities don't trigger activity. Worth a shot though. If you did degen heavy at somewhere besides borgata it might trigger.

Your best bet is hoping someone chimes in with real pull. Doubtful. Free limos to strip bars at least.

I'm probably a little more disturbed than most by some of the behavior (as someone, you know, with a mother, sisters and a wife, for example), but I give you credit for your multiple disclaimers. I admire your openness and you have a great feel for building characters with just a few key details. I haven't posted in years (and actually could only find this gimmick account to post with), but wanted to pose a few questions for your consideration:

1. Your thread reminds me of an old 2+2 thread by a young guy from Mass. who did several months for a botched bank robbery. The picture he painted was of near- constant terror & dread inside, with just a little levity sprinkled in. It doesn't seem like jail traumatized you or even shaped you that much. From your stories, jail seems like more of a footnote -- like you basically just took it in stride. Is that accurate, or is there a lot of profound prison stuff that isn't relevant to the degen chronicles?

2. I'm amazed by the amount of welching and defaulting chronicled on 2+2; it seems like no one in the poker world ever pays anybody back (and the higher the stakes, the worse). From your stories, I sense a lot more confidence that debts will be paid. In your world, what happens when an acquaintance owes, say, $5K and starts giving the the sustained run-around?

3. You must have some crazy degen poker-specific stories that wouldn't have mass appeal but would be appreciated here? Do you?

No, but I only really played big at Borgata and Golden Nugget. Mildly at the Taj, so I doubt this will do me any good. Working on a room plan right now. Having trouble deciding.
1. I'm not aware of the thread you are referring to. Jail wasn't really too disturbing for me. I first went in when I was 19, that first weekend when I realized I wasn't getting out for a bit was terrible. I was young and it was summer and I just wanted out. I got along with most and found some other inmates odd. Never was in a situation where I was actually scared or anything. I was used to fights from outside of jail anyway. You do find yourself feel like you take everything for granted once your in. The simplest things in life seem like they were such a treat that you didn't appreciate when you had your freedom. The time sucks while your doing it, and you think about what your friends and family are doing out there. But I kept busy with gambling and working out in there to keep my mind off. Receiving mail is such a good feeling. I got a ton of mail from friends so I would write alot. I tell you though. One of the best feelings in the world is getting released from jail. Such a great feeling, and no matter how much time you did, once your out it feels like its all behind you. You just move on, well at least in my case that's how I felt. I think I've been in and out about 5 times over the years. Hope to never return.

2. Ya most people I deal with pay, but you know the people you lend to and their track records. So everyone is a different risk level. Its just like the credit system. Bad credit scores require higher rates. A good score is someone I know with almost certainty will pay me right back and would do the same for me, I would lend whatever amount to them without looking to profit. Then there is the shaky scores where you need to profit to make the risk worth it. You charge interest or something. When I was young I was much more hard headed about debts. I would get physical over $20. Now I know the risk I run and deal with it. It's gambling. If I was to front an addict drugs at a marked up price, I'm just gambling that I get paid back. Risking not, and rewarded with profit. So I look at the people not paying or giving a hard time from their perspective and realize I knew what I was doing to begin with. So I'm much more easy going and will try to take settlements or maybe have someone work it off. The one thing I hate like most others, is being ignored. At least contact me and explain yourself. But to answer your question about the $5k, you charge interest. If that isn't getting paid you find ways to motivate the person to pay.

3. I don't know about crazy degen poker stories. I gave a bit of history about some of my online poker runs/swings in the Pot Luck Omaha story. I'm not sure your looking for a losing story or a winning story. I have some good live tourny runs. No real big swings live. I've played as low as $1-$3 stud up to $150-$300 mix. Most I ever lost live was like $7k in a $100-$200 mix game. I've witnessed some sick swings in big home games. Never hit any jackpots, or made some amazing comeback. Done a ton of donking like $3k-$5k range in the pits, then getting it back in a poker session. Think I was cheated on Absolute during super-user time-frame. Only other interesting thing was that endless supply of Full Tilt Funds for a bit. But I don't think many on here approve of that. So if you can be a little more specific about would you like me write about, that would work.

If you want to get a feel for hotel costs and options try glancing at lasvegas.com. You can see all the hotel costs rolled up into one page. Narrow your choice down to the strip. It's not easy to see suites,etc but this site will give you a nice view/look fr above at the choices themselves. You want to be in the middle of the strip pretty much.

If you click on vacation packages there are some with suites, Etc. I have no affiliation with the site. It's just easy to reference.

I am affiliated in a friendly with allvegaspoker.com now pokeratlas.com. Lot of info on each casino there as well. Not just about poker but rooms, entertainment, etc.

Down to 4 of us committed to going. The Slot Guru has backed out for not being able to reschedule prior commitments. Poker Jay is just an irresponsible loser and has backed out for financial reasons. After stringing me along for past month and just telling me today that he is out, while nursing a hangover from getting wasted at a dump bar tourney. Said someone knocked him out on the bubble with ten deuce and has crushed his dreams. Sad, but oh well. Giving up less recreational abuse of him for less financial headaches from him.

Yes you want to be in the center of the strip. Luxor has deals and is barely acceptable. DO NOT stay at Excalibur. What a roach motel. Treasure Island is a great location, I used to get pretty good deals there. Imperial Palace is a dump but a great location.
