It's impossible to know when to stop, because you should only stop at the peak of your success, but how will you know it is your peak? The guy who won 5k then lost it should have stopped at 5k, but the guy that made 5k, then carried on winning and made 50k before losing should have stopped at 50k.

Imagine if Isildur would have stopped.

It's like when I gamble in front of my girlfriend. I put 200 dollars on a blackjack table and run it up to 600 and she starts getting real nervous, I mean, like panicky. I tell her to go play nickel slots or something but she'll sit there and drag me away from the table, so whatever.

But when I'm with male friends, that 200 can keep going up and up.. I went on a 10k run once, wound up cashing out for 9k. If my girl was there, we would never have had the chance to even get to 10k, because she would have had a heart attack when we got to a thousand dollars.

We don't stop, specially when chasing "losses", like Grinder MD. 600 to 5200, drops to 2000, rebuild to 4800 and go bust chasing the 300 and change "loss". After a few times, I've learned not to try and get every penny left, the last penny might cost everything.

3 years ago I got a new laptop for Christmas and after downloading partypoker onto it, I found $3.22 in my account. I go on a staggering party bj heater and turn my three bucks it into a little over $1600 around lunchtime on Christmas day. I cash out 1500 and then busto the remaining ~110 playing blackjack and $30 HU SNG's on Party.

Fast forward 4 hours and quite a few cocktails and I am back on my laptop dipping into my cashout request, which is an option on Party. Within an hour I have put the entire $1500 back into my account and lost it all playing blackjack.

Also, My biggest online tourney score was on party for about 3k, I lost 100% and then some immediately after playing party bj.

Thats just ****ed up dude.

freshman year of college (2005) 2 of my friends decided to be poker pros. they got a student credit card (really easy, this was at an Ivy League, and yes I assume that means they make it just a bit easier to get a credit card) and maxed it out for 5k on party poker.

went to 5000NL, busted it. went another credit card, another 5k. busted it - 10k total. went another, and another, and another, till they were down $25k at 25/50 in the course of 2 weeks, and had maxed out FIVE credit cards between the two of them.

This wasn't enough for two 18 year old kids 2 months into college. Chris Moneymaker didn't give up - he just sucked out.

They maxed out 3 more credit cards, were down to their last $5k, and finally hit that little heater they wished they'd hit on credit card 1. They won back $15k in one session, and were sitting at $20k (still down $20k).

Smartly, very very smartly, they quit. Daddy had to pony up $10k each, and neither of them played poker again.

then lost 1k cashed out 2.5k$ to my bank acc, went to the local casino and felt like the biggest baller with 2k€ in 100€ chips to my name - I put a 100€ chip on 16,24 and 5 each and hit 24, I felt unstoppable now.. then I got these 1k€ chips and I decide to look for the tables with the longest black / red streak and place a 1k chip to break the streak

At one point im at 9k€ in chips... which is A LOT to me.. I usually make like 1k / month online and the same or some more live.. but POKA only obv

so I sit there with 9k€ and decide to put 2k on red or black twice so i would be left with 5k, win1 lose1, repeat, win1 lose1, repeat - did it for like 5 times then lost both ~~

with 5k€ left i was about to cash out when some guy I know from the casino told me to join the 10/20 plo game ... i would never consider joining that game since its WAY out of my limits - 80% of the people straddle it which more makes it a 10/20/40 game..

so it goes I pot, "minraise.." by old guy.. AI by other old guy, fold fold I call minraiser calls (something like that)

they show me QQxx and 789T with 9Tss LOL ~~ anyway I am crushed on flop already but turn gives the 8s old guy who had QQ rages out loud how 9Tss could possibly call there with boat possible on flop with 3 ppl

im just shocked, not saying a word.. so lost.. I leave table.. down to my last 1k€, change it into 100€ chips and thought I would play on red/black 100 a game^^ I lost 8 games straight then left casino with 200 left and got drunk..

Actually I didnt care much at that time, but the days after that I felt like the biggest ****ing ****** in the world, I was up to 9k€.. so sick.. some peeps here might consider that still low for a degen story but if you net like 1k€ / month its A ****ING LOT

I was at a casino more of a **** story.. but i was on an all inclusive holuiday so expecting to spend the bare minimum - as you can get drinks and food etc from the hotel.

Went to a casino... took 300 out to play roulette. But it was 2.5 euro a chip which in itself pissed me off because it was a lot! i was expecting to play 1 euro a chip. Anyway i lost the lot. It landed on one of the numbers i never play.. then i doubled down and it landed on another number i never play... then on the 3rd spin it landed on the original number again (which i didnt have covered again). So literally in about 3 spin i had lost my 300

The next day i was uhming and ahing whetehr to go again or not. I can accept my losses and just come off holiday another 300 euro down.. or.. i can go back to the casino win it all back plus more then go to the lap dancing clubs etc and act like a baller paying for the most expensive lap dances at the casinos expense and loving it....

I opted for option number 2.

I get there again with 300 euro. and the second i turn up i knew it was a bad omen... on the screen showing the last numbers they were 10, 25, 25, 25 and 23. FFS.. i cover those numbers EFVERY SINGLE TIME. If i had just ****ing turned up 5 minutes earlier (i had literally spent 5-10 minutes watching a ****ty programme after getting changed before leaving) - i would now be rolling in it. I was born on the 25th so i always have it covered. And when i double down I add more chips to it as well. Literally in 4 spins i would have won ****ing **** loads and my dream of being in the lap dancing club, getting pissed off my face and acting baller would have come true.

anyway.. first spin actually goes ok a number i always cover came in. But only had a little bit on it like 4 euro. Again this annoys me as in my head i was thinking specifically about putting more on that number... then i lose all that money. Nothing goes right.none of my numbers coming in. It kept landing on nunbers i never ever cover. (which isnt many only like 6 or so numbers...yet it still kept landing on them - and this is despite the fact if i had come 5 minutes earlier id be rolling in it) I had been covering number 2 all night as its one of my favoured numbers - i whtdrew another 300 off my credit card.
I look to the other roulette table as i am running out of chips, at this point contantly just betting about 5 chips on number 2 and nothing else - and on the other table number 2 has come in... ffs... then about 5 spins later... number 2 again... also number 31 came in (i always cover31,32,33,34,35 and 36). So if i was on that table, again id be winning now,

then i am now down to my last 11 chips of 2.5 euro from 600 euro total. It lands on numbr 25 again... I say to myself... Put 5 chips on number 2 and 6 on number 25. Do it, its your birthday. Then my head counter acts it saying NO, STICK TO NUMBER 2.

WHat comes in next spin? You guessed it... 25. It doubled down,

If i just ****ing bet on it, that 1 bet would have pretty much cleared all my losses in 1 spin. I was in for 900 and at that point that would have won me approx 530. Then after that my last chips went on number 2 which didnt come in. Then... number 32 came in.. which again, had i won the 25 spin i would have had chips on number 32 and won some more back.

Further to this , on the roulette wheel number 2 is literally, literally right next to number 25. So although it doubled down it was also one space away from number 2 which just added to my pain at that point. You could see even the roulette dealer woman reacted to it... like even she noticed it even though they are obviously trained to not give off emotions etc

instead i left the casino feeling a prick. You feel like everyone is looking at you lol i try to walk around the casino for a bit to make it look like im interested in gong on something else. You know, make it look like i dont care. When in reality, i only have enough money for the taxi home. I have maxxed out 2 cards daily amount so cant withdraw any more (one of which is a credit card and so is not even money i had myself) and i am really really really ****ed off. The second i walked in. The second i walked in and saw 23,25,25,25 i should have not played that roulette table. I should have known that it was a bad sign that it was all gona go tits up and not work out. and it is dpressing, i just feel sometimes in life nothing seems to go my way! I know its gambling and you can lose, but i still think that . i doint just gamble it and lose.. its the sequence of events like missing all my numbers at the start, not double down on 25 etc.. it just seems like everything is against you

In the end.. i end p getting back. I pull out my mums debit card that i was mean to use in an emergency in case i lost my card.

We proceeded to drink all night on his no limit amex card doing one burbon one scotch and one beer. We repeated this cycle about 7-8 times and then started patron shots then budlights. After getting into an argument with the waitress because she wouldn't give me anther menu after I misplaced the 1st one she gave to me I was asked to leave my security. He drove us home (I dont know how) and we ordered over $30 in the del taco drive thru. Woke up 15 hours later with 20 something 1/2 eaten items strewn across the room. Awful hangover from booze+deltaco I wouldn't wish upon anyone.
