I did the same thing 3 years ago and lost $1500.00. in three spins. Had to tell the wife to come up with the mortgage. She still brings it up when she's mad at me. LOL.

Last night I had a dream I was 48 tabling $1000 NL when Stu Ungar (in his youth) appeared to me and asked:

"Soooo uhh... what is your favorite Taco Bell menu item to eat whilst grinding?"

I told him. "Pizza, The Mexican Pizza"

He then turned into a pile of black chips that splashed all over my wooden floor.

After that i went back to grinding and made 3 or 4 perfectly sized value bets on the river, all of which were called.

That's about all I can remember but it was a pretty good dream.

Long time ago I was online&live busto (because alcohol, blow and hookers obv). Rent was late and I was going to be evicted soon. So I take $1k loan from bank. Half of it I spend on one way ticket to Thailand a few weeks later, and half of it I deposit. Lost $300 later that night playing drunken roulette. Still here though lol.

I've lost in neighborhood of 100k playing blackjack so plenty of degen stories. The time I felt the worst probably was when I bet a lot of 2 different college bball games when I knew I was going to be sleeping through the games anyway and hadn't watched either of the 4 teams play that year / randomly picked a side

I have a few but one quick one comes to mind...

Two summers ago I put on $200 and hit a bunch of MTT Scores and had my roll to $7k. This was during the week of final exams which were very important. After running like god for 5 days I decided it would be best to just grind and not worry about studying. Needless to say variance caught up to me and sent me on a downward tilting session which ended at 25/50 where my friends watched me lose $4k from another computer without my knowledge and didn't even ask me what the @@@@ I was doing. Anyways, I shrugged it off and pretended I was going to be the next big thing as I quickly built my $800 fulltilt roll to $5k in a week playing 2/4 NL. I won't go into details but everyone in my family thought I was doing great and I had booked a vacation and on the vacation decided it'd be best to load up the laptop with some drunken 25/50 tables. Needless to say I busted that roll as well and only cashed out $1800 out of about $12k I made in a month. I still to this day regret those days as I'd be alot further ahead if I had practised any form of bankroll management the past few years.

I've got some degen

So basically for starters I'm poasting this from my blackberry because I'm banned from my own pc because there's pokers on there.

I quit a 12-20 drink a day habit 2 years ago, did the whole rehab thing, have been sober since but yes the gambling is now big time like the alcohol was. Yes I'm a huge addict. I quit alcohol, cigarettes, pot, etc. but not degen gambling. I play 200nl-400nl on the interwebs which isn't where I'm a huge degen. I'm a huge degen when I'm playing live and decide to walk through the casino.

I mean its ****ing tuesday and I'm sitting in a halfway worthwile 2-5nl full of nitty regs where I dust off 500 with some standard set over set action. And nothing against nitty regs because despite my ability to spewwwwww $$$$$ everywhere I *can* play super super nitty. I'm talking folding sets in standard ship spots. But whatever I reload ship it in with aa on 258 board guy misses spades but hits str8. Fine, I cover him got 80 left. I'm steaming and I decide its time to go home but I drop 80 on black ftw. Red obv. I reload 300 more black chips only obv put it back on black. Usually these stories have lines like "ran it up to" or "turned $80 into $7400" but not this one sorry. 300 black zero hits. I get half back try red this time, zero again. Now I just put the rest on the zeros and 2 hits which is next to zero. This tilts me to no end so I reload for 600. I dust that off. On my way out I decide to make it an even 1k so I take out another 400. After that's gone I decide to just make it 2k and take the 1k to the $100min. Gone. On the way home my phone rings and my fiance happened to be at the bank. Yeah I blew $ from our savings. In fact I blew >~$17k in 3 months because I could give u several stories like this one. I mean ill play a 14hr session win a modest $600 then go on a ****ing disgusting bender playing waaaaay over my head on the floor. That day I fell asleep during my 70min drive home. I know I deserved to die slowly as I lay in a pool of gasoline and blood in a ditch next to the highway. I don't wear a seatbelt and I drive 90+mph min while sleeping and survive but I couldn't hit a ~50/50 shot for 1k if my life depended on it whatever I quit its nice out now I'm going to play golf.

That guy has two choices. stop playing or buy in at the min and grind up. if he loves poker and he is good he'll make it to the big game eventually. if he cant play at low limits on line because its not exciting to him then he has a problem and needs the GA

I don't know, I think I'm too risk adverse to be truly degen, but I have had to take the responsible gaming option and self-ban from both PS and FT because while quite good (IMO) when I'm clean and sober, I'm really, really bad at playing while high (which I generally am while I'm at home). I didn't lose obscene sums as I was just making small cash deposits on the sites taking shots, spewing, and then starting all over. Again and again, until they wouldn't let me deposit anymore that day. So I quit, cleaned up and a few weeks ago got the urge to gambool online again (after some good finishes in home cash games and tournies). Of course, PS and FT wouldn't let me play (still banned until June) so I put $50 on Cake (busto'd within days) and $10 on AP (had account from the $100 free promotion, which by the way I set down with the whole $100 on a $1/$2 table and busto'd within 5 hands). I rolled this up to >$700, withdrew $600 and 2 days later have ~$4.00 left in the acct. after playing terrible in too many MTTs to remember.

Maybe I'm not too risk adverse to be truly degen, just too damn broke. I do worry about every winning significant cash though because money just slides through my fingers whenever I try to hold on to it (i.e. I have no BRM and no concept of budgeting/fiscal responsibility).

In '97 I was invited to the Superbowl in New Orleans by a friend of mine who was employed by an NFL team. I was fresh out of law school, newly divorced and going thru early mid-life crisis. Before law school I was a regular in the local ring games and hit Vegas 8-10 times a year but I had not gambled at all during the 3 years of law school so the trip was more about hitting the casinos and debauchery than football.

What I recall of the weekend went something like this: The coke (courtesy of a certain NFL WR) and booze (to excess) started on the ride from Dallas. Stopped in Shreveport, hit the casinos, blew my entire wad on blackjack and roulette and drained my checking account w/ ATM card. Wrote hot checks at 3 different casinos. Went all nite and left for N.O. completely busto. Arrived at N.O. wired and boozed up, hooked up with a couple other degens my friend knew and partied all nite in the casinos - this time my friend tapping out his checking/savings accounts. We had some good runs at blackjack and roulette but never left a table with anything. Crashed somewhere for a few hours, went to Superdome, somehow was introduced to Lesley Visser, Dick Stockton and that dude that plays the old man character on the Six Flags commercials. Picked up our media goody bag, watched kickoff and about 5 min. of the game (Packers vs. ??), hit Bourbon Street where my friend got whacked on the head by a mounted policeman for trying to stick a beer bottle in the cop's horse's vag.

Back to the casino, wrote more hot checks, got on a roll at roulette, turned $200 into $4600 - more than enough to make everything right. I left the table with two $100 chips to play blackjack to continue the heater. I had only lost about, oh . . . all of it when my friend, the ultimate degenerate, appeared and told me he had lost all of our roulette winnings and would I write another check because he knew he could "do it again at roulette". I was so stunned I gave him my checkbook and my driver's license and told him he could cash a check as me if he could pull if off (there is absolutely no resemblance). He did. As far as another roulette run - he didn't.

Next day we left for home broke, no drugs, no drink. Ran out of gas at Tyler, Tx. and discovered his wife had cancelled/suspended all credit cards. We had to bum gas money from a total stranger. His wife divorced him shortly thereafter. Curiously, I was never able to pull a marker in Vegas after that even after years of having decent credit lines out there. This is just the high points and what I remember. There's something about a hooker but I couldn't dredge up enough memory to make it a coherent piece of the story.
