Wasn't really much of a casino player, but they would give me amazing promotions to get me hooked. "They" being offshore sportsbooks/poker sites. I've had several $50k+ days, but also had several $100k losing days.

Biggest bet- $10,000 behind 4 different players in Live Dealer Blackjack on 5Dimes(Now betanysports). So a total of $40,000 on one hand essentially. Each player had reasonable hands, no busts. 18,19,18,20 I believe. Dealer has a 9 behind. Not great, but not the end of the world. Dealer gets a 3, then a 9 for 21.

It was a great first half of 2021 but then I got hooked and couldn't stop. Time to get it back (the right way).
this has the makings of a good one but we're lacking some good back story - could use a bit more pee bottle or monitor punching flavor

perhaps knox was inspired by this fellow madlad

I won that torny, paid back + some to the lady who put me in. I have 200 now. Met friend of mine, If you have played in london you will know him he has the biggest afro lol. I told him i want to spin this **** up, so i offered to get him in a 1-1 game while i go and play the 1-2 at the VIC we split the profits, yes it does not make sense but its good to help your friends out like he helps me out from time to time. Were on a roll, getting the money in 2 hours to round 500 in total so 350 for me 150 for my friend, it is around 7.00 pm and we race to the International poker room on the other side of london to play in a torny, buyin 120 or so we both come for late reg...
Its 1 30 am we have both made the money i come 2 nd in a chop for 2200 my friend min cash.
We are so happy and thinking we were rich and the best poker players that ever lived, we did not have enough we wanted more, so we took a very expensive rickshaw across london and back to the biggest crazy loose cash games you can ever find at the time in london in the empire casino, within the first few hand my friend end up loosing everything, i was also stuck and could not find the strength to leave in a few hours i lost everything, sad and upset and tired we had just enough to catch a bus to go back to the International as that was on the way home. We decided to go back in to see if anyone we knew was there, they have online poker and as degenerates, we emptied out both our stars acc on low buyin sitngs.

We were broke, hungry, cold and a 1hour walk back home(live in the same area) at 4.30 in the morning.
Its very funny when you are winning nothing else matters, you never feel hungry its never cold and you are never tired and life in general feels good.

On the way home there was a very small milk truck, you know, the one that delivers bread and mike and juice to peoples doors, We were so hungry that to us this was like god answered our calls lol, as just seconds earlier we were talking about what we would do if we saw a tesco/convenience store open lol (not rob money, but more on the lines off walk in and walk out with some drinks and candy/chocolate bar)< we live in the ghetto at the time and it is/was standard talk. Now we were waiting for a time that the milk cart had to stop and the driver get out to deliver the products, If anyone saw us we must have looked like crack heads as we were hiding behind parked cars, all this on a main road at 4.30 am, waiting for our opportunity to pounce.

I ended up with a 2L full fat milk 2 loaves of bread running down the street and my friend got 2 fruit drinks and what looked like some french bread.

Always thought I was degen but nothing compared to some of the originals. Don't play cash so maybe my story would be better if I did.

Losing poker player over my "career", but make up for it with sports and blackjack. No coke or hookers, sry.

Made my first online account a week before black friday so I never got to play with the fish on stars. Got first in my first ever sng. I wonder how my life would be different if that hadn't happened.

Out of a bad breakup, smoking weed every night with my first well-playing job. Went through a stint of depositing $100 min a night on bovada playing $5-50 hyper sng. EPT stream on one screen, bovada on the other with porn to fill the gaps. Have a screencap of when I got first in a $100. Crazy I miss those days and "how simple life was" sometimes.

Fast forward, 4 years. New gf hated poker so I put it down for a while. Have a timeshare in Vegas every 2 years so I would only play prepping for live dailies out there. Only betting the early weeks of NFL because that's my system. Eventually, got into small stakes MTTs again.

Get another new job and cash out my 401k. 40k in one check. Pay off my credit cards and put 4k on bovada. I thought I invented Martingale for a while. Would go out for a smoke/blackjack break at my new job. I would start with $5/hand and choose how many hands based on my system. It seemed like switching how many hands I played threw off the raping. Come in pissed after losing half a weeks pay or winning and thinking I'm better than everyone. Somehow grinded that up to 12k.

Before COVID, we were gifted one day work from home a week. Of course, spent that grinding MTTs. One day, my gf is home while I play blackjack at lunch. I think I am a very lucky guy, but I am convinced she brings me bad luck in luck games when she's around. It's not just a concentration thing. The cards just start turning to crap. I lose one round for a couple hundred. Max per hand on bovada is $500 so I know I can't chase without ****ing up Martingale. Doing $500 3 handed, lose 2 and push 1. WTF. But what do I do? Lose it all

So what's the best response? Slowly deposit 1k at a time til the cards are maxed again. Once they are maxed, realize there's no way to make it back. That got me off the blackjack online. Still win at live but nowhere near the amount and only play once a year. Still playing MTTs and mincashing or bubbling FML.

Newest job has stock options, but hey 8% a year is crap compared to 20% a week. Cash out to bet NFL. Been pretty steady, but highest sports bets I ever made. One week I decided I'd beat the sharps to the register and place my bets Sunday night when the odds come out. So stressed that entire week and didn't even watch the games or check scores because of luck.

Decide I want to go to WSOP #86 so I will make enough to get even and pay for the trip. Obviously can only make that work with 5 team parlays. After a few weeks of Bears/Browns losses, the plan is in question. Can't wait for Sunday so I have to start betting NBA though I am convinced that is fixed still. Lose a couple and decide NHL is the answer since the games are early and I'm not worried all night. Don't know anything about it and the season just started but gotta degen. Somehow have a 2k bankroll and pick a few wrong teams.

Well still 6k in the back account and across cards so.. put everything on Minnesota Wild over Arizona Coyotes and Brooklyn Nets over Orlando Magic. Never felt better about a bet except the churn in my stomach of possibly having to pay all that back. It holds up and have 11k on bovada. Paid for the whole trip and losses.

Go to Vegas, but just stick to Caesar's $100+50 dailies and 2 entries to #86. Actually bink a daily for 2k. Put $500 on nfl and get destroyed. Too pussy to do blackjack even though I've been training on Casino Veritas for a year.

Fkn WSOP with their chip sizes. On 100/200 level, I 3b and throw out 5k+200 instead of 700. Dealer says it stands and guy jams 20k. Fk him Fk you and I call with A9o vs AJs. One hour, $1k, my life. Pretty happy to leave with amateurs all talking about their stupid jobs. Go eat late breakfast before 2nd bullet. Get a table with 3 pros who were there all month(Ori Hasson, Mario Mosbock, and some Israeli I didn't recognize). Get decimated by the guy that bet Ohtani for MVP with AKs vs 56 on flop that gives him a straight. He laughed it was a modified dirty diaper, but I only minraised UTG like a fool and he was BB. Play 10-15BB for a couple levels and run QJs into QQ. Sign from the poker gods the next day at Orleans when I lost QQ vs QJs.

Looking at the payouts, I would have had to get better than mincash to get my 2k back, but honestly great experience since Amazon was already shut down. Saw Calamusa, Fedor, Chidwick and Mateos. Landon Tice and Ant Zinno played #86 one table over. With the daily win, only lost 1.5 WSOP buyins myself. Lost 2k I staked Zinno and Fedor when they punted.

Decided to switch to Jackpot SpinNGos since I have a better chance of winning LOL. I swear to myself I will do BRM for this. I don't bet NFL late season but this morning felt left out after the easy weekend so put the 1k bankroll on Seahawks/Winnipeg after 2 minutes of research. NBD I'll start BRM tomorrow i swear

Cool story!!!!! It is rare to hear these stories on this forum anymore. Wishing you the best though man. Stay away from credit cards, and once you hit a good score on a poker tourney or sports parlay(like $20k or higher). Use your money smart and steady, try not to blow it. I kind of wish I had stories like this to tell in my younger days but I was too nitty through life. I am now mid aged, and have built up enough where if I lose it all, it would be too destructive to life.

Classic degen with no gas money

How do casinos pay out large winnings?

My largest win at one time was $59,000.00 - I went back to a room with security and they counted out 590 $100 dollar bills in stacks of 10, gave me a money bag to put it in and gave me a safe for the evening and when I was ready to go they walked me to my car. Except, over the next 12 hours I went to the safe 6 times pulling out $8000 to $10000 at a time and when it was time for me to leave I didn’t have gas money to get home.

Stupid? Maybe, but theres something that comes over me when I am in a casino. I use coupons at Walmart. I quit, some cant. I know how, but I am putting it into a book to try to recover my losses. Do I still want to gamble? Yes, I do. I just dont. Every day its a choice for me to make. I like stopping to eat or get gas and my debit card works.

She started showing me YouTube videos featuring these tween "cryotobros" who spent hours raving about "the next big coin" and bull/bear coins and NFT's. She got big into libertarian politics and buzzwords and told me and Bob that the government should "never be involved in a person's financial property" and banks were essentially holding other people's money ransom. Really quite half baked ****, but within a certain sphere of logic she did make sense. She basically fell for the "no regulation, full control over YOUR money" shill hook, line, and sinker and the lure of easy money. I suppose Jane was aware of the glass ceiling imposed by an hourly wage and just wanted to improve her standing; I don't think she was greedy. Just naive. I know she invested most of her paycheck, sold her stocks one by one, and even her car. Her presence at work was one of constant stress and manic behavior since she was constantly checking how her crypto was doing or telling EVERYBODY to invest in crypto. Bob tried to talk to her about it but Jane basically just said he was jealous that her investments were going so well while me and him had given up. It was at that point that I realized she had an addiction.

Fast forward nearly a year, to now. Jane is still at work, but is barely functioning. The big Bitcoin crash in June hit her very hard, and she's putting in extra shifts, trying to find a second job, and moving back in with her parents. We don't talk nearly as much as we used to but she told me last week that she feels so stupid for thinking she could just become a millionaire by buying up coins. She also let slip she owes her parents five thousand dollars that they loaned her to buy another car, but she instead invested in crypto, hoping to essentially win it all back again. Now she has no car, no home of her own, a virtually worthless crypto portfolio, most likely major depression and anxiety, with no real end in sight. It's like seeing a gambling addict finally face the reality of their naive destructiveness. We are in our late twenties and still young, but man, starting all over would and does suck, especially because you fell for such a widespread scam.

Thanks everyone. so far it's making my little bump in the road, seem inconsequential. I'm maybe total for 25 years give or take 2500 and 1000 of that was a loan from netteller. And just recently other than variance and that pesky short run( who is very good at making me try those low suited gappers). I've been playing on a few deposits and tourney ticket. For 15 months of and on about 250 in my bankroll. Microstake professionals(suckouts city) thinking there gods gift. I've played a **** on of hands. I'm talking 40 hours a week. I win a lot on BetMGM its a just give it back, because I have no other hobbies, or imo because I use my phone and I can't study and play poker.

Gambling Addiction Stories: How UK Got Hooked on Online Casino
https://archive.ph/aPojx

The 38-year-old freelance journalist had opened his first online casino account in October 2016. He’d recently had a messy break up with his partner of seven years and felt isolated and alone. Gambling was a way of escaping the stress and avoiding difficult emotions, he says. Within days of playing that first slots game, Cooper was hooked and soon was losing hundreds of pounds a night. Over the next two and a half years he racked up losses of as much as £100,000, mostly playing online slot machines on more than 50 different casino sites including William Hill and Ladbrokes.

Back at home on his own in the leafy west London suburb of Ealing, Cooper would log in to games with names like Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest and Book of the Dead. Totally absorbed, he would lose track of time as he pressed the spin button, and the multiple reels covered in brightly colored symbols began to spin wildly. Cooper would gamble feverishly for hours without moving from his couch, sometimes wagering £100 per spin and only stopping once he’d burned through nearly all his money. He once gambled, and lost, a month’s wages in 20 seconds. If he hit a winning streak, he would gamble through the night, until his casino balance hit zero again and he stumbled to bed. Some days he would gamble for 12 hours straight, stopping only to go to the toilet or to eat.

I continued playing and won like 4 grand just to punt it off on $200 spins. We would have hit for 20k!
