long story short I bring 40k with me to a local card room for a big poker game. Upon arrival the floor tells me the game isn’t going to run but they have a decent sized plo game if we want to play that instead. In the span of 2 hours I punt 9.5k. I look around the table and realize how many nits I’m surrounded by and lave. Tilted I drive to the closest casino and start playing 1500 a hand blackjack playing 2 hands. Seems high to most people reading this but this is unfortunately standard betting for me. An hour later I leave having lost 30k.
Thursday I’m invited to a different private plo game. The stakes are 25-25 and I buyin with 5k. Long story short 8 hours later I leave down 25k having peaked up 4K an hour into the game and left after busting the fifth 5k bullet. So it’s Saturday night and I’m writing this for a couple reasons. I haven’t told anyone about this except a friend who texted me about wsop backing of which I would normally be interested but I had to inform him i just punted 65k this week and will likely pass on the opportunity. What worries me about this weeks degeneracy is that I have no job, and plenty more money to lose trying to get it back. Going to try and take a few days off and get some much needed family time in to try and recoup some sense of normalcy. Good luck to all of us degens trying to survive.

its very rare for people to gamble this high and stop before they go broke. your brain is telling you to go and win that money back, you might fight the urge for a few days or weeks but by the end of next month you will probably succumb. gl.

Derek4real, It depends if this is within your roll and this is regular variance. However, you seem to be really affected losing this amount, which in terms of number of buyins, wasn't all that much.

Probably best to write it off and drop to lower stakes or to a stake where you are profitable and where you can play without having the amount of money on the line affect your ability to make correct decisions.


Good decision to take time off and spend time with family. A remedy I often take myself which much success.

I really hate when people ask how my brother died, and I'm certain I'm not the only person who feels this way. It comes off as insensitive, regardless of how it's framed. It's a perspective thing.

I was only explaining because I know I didn't feel this way until I was the one being asked the question. You never know how it's going to spin someone's day.

Only been less than a week but do not have urge to bet. Maybe that's just because there is no sport I like bet on at moment like NFL, IPL t20, rugby league that's when the real test begins as I live betting NFL but not worth it in long run ...

spent about 5 hours playing dead or alive 2 slot .. that slot is the worse the bonus round is hard to hit and when you do hit you get x2 your stake. had over 10 bonus and only x20 once , the rest were x2 x3 tops.
