Another recent one for your reading enjoyment. Hopefully putting this down into words will provide some therapeutic relief in some way. Probably not.
It all started Thursday, February 15th. I'm scheduled to fly out of town to San Diego for a golf tournament the following day. Excited for the upcoming departure, but it's been a tough week so I call up a few buds to have a few buds to blow off some pent up anxiety. 6 hours, several tequila shots, and one pinky promise to get tattoos it's 2:15 am and I've got to pack and be up for work in 5 hours. No problem, gonna be a rough day but I can hit the airport bars in about 12 hours to take care of this hangover. Pretty much treading water all day at work, throwing a few BTC tennis bets down to distract me and pass the time. Well, also throw down 2 long shot parlays because I'm a parlay degen. Problem was at the time I didn't realize that the last match would occur while I was in flight(no wifi). Didn't even think it would get that far honestly, talk about a sweat. I turned my phone into airplane mode RIGHT as the last match was starting, anxious as all hell for the next 2.5 hours to San Diego. Queue landing, immediately pull out phone to check the result:

I checked the 5 team first obv as it decided whether or not the second one was live. It was. However URI couldn't close it out down the stretch and we went 1-1. Still Ecstatic. My buddy picks me up and we head back to his place for some drinking. And in my case more bets:

what a great start to the weekend. Can't miss, about to embark on 36 holes of drunken golf and fun with the boys. Saturday AM wake up and place a few more feelers which started as expected, great:

Feeling invincible. Had another bet pending on Fed -5 against Seppi which was risky considering Seppi has been playing out of his mind the last few weeks. However in his previous match to Medvedev he looked really slow on the second serve and I felt Fed would be able to jump all over this and get a few breaks. Things were looking great after the first set but Fed couldn't get a break in the second set and my first bet of the weekend bricks out:

Not thinking much of it. It's Saturday, tons of NCAAB games on to ride out. Well. I'm no expert at NCAA, and my bet record from the weekend would show that. I've got about 1 BTC in my account at this point. I proceed to brick 6 games in a row and am left with .4 BTC. Not happy about this but fairly drunk from all the golf, we decide to hit the casinos and have dinner. At dinner I don't really remember doing this but place two back to back .1 BTC bets on blackjack, obv lose both. Sitting at .2 BTC I shut the online gambling down for the night and focus on the actual casino.
One small dinner, and 33 red bull vodkas later it's 1:15 am, I've got a mountain of 25 dollar chips in front of me at the blackjack table but I'm being escorted by police to the cashier, and little did I know, to the drunk tank. Apparently yelling and screaming, even if doing so in a happy way, is unwelcome by most pit bosses in America, and I had been asked to quiet down several times. When winning and drunk I am an EXTREMELY generous tipper, usually tipping as much as 50/ hand on 100 dollar and up bets. According to my buddies I tipped nearly 1k dollars throughout the few hours we were on the blackjack table, so the dealers were tolerating my nonsense. However none of this matters when you're handcuffed in the back of a squad car. 7 hours later I'm released from the drunk tank and I've got to make it nearly 35 minutes back to the course for an 11:00 am tee time. No problem.
My Uber driver, Bruce, was really enjoying my recap of the nights events so had no problem pulling into Albertson's so that I could grab a pint of Jack and some diet cokes to get the day started. Back to the room, quick shower, coffee, throw together a mixed drink and I meet the boys on the putting green, no worse for wear. The drinking continues all day and I'm feeling fairly invincible by about the 16th tee when a genius idea comes to mind. Vegas.
It's Sunday afternoon at about 2:45, I don't have to work on Monday due to presidents day. I'm drunk. Let's fly to Vegas! I was scheduled to take an 8 pm flight out of OC back to my home state but why do that when I can keep the degen train going? 80 dollar flight out of LAX seems about right to me so I book, planning to just uber to LAX rather than John Wayne. Little did I know that getting to LAX would be over three hours, and a 200 dollar uber ride. ****. Whatever I'm all in at this point so no turning back now.
I get in the uber and load up my nitrogen account. I rememer I've got .2 BTC remaining and figure what better way to pass the time than a sweat. Throw it all on a 2 team NCAAB parlay and pass out. I wake up with about 10 minutes remaining in both games. One of them is a sure thing, the other, well, it's going to be a nail biter. I'm sweating it out in the back of the car, my uber driver is trying to be friendly, I'm starting to feel the effects of the hangover and taking a turn for the worst. No problem, Stanford pulls out this win and it's all peaches and roses. Well, Stanford does pull out the win, but in doing so they win by 4. That's a serious disappointment to me as I had them at 4.5:

What made matters worse. I was watching on my phone and Cal misses a three with about 6 seconds left. Stanford can't claim the rebound but the offense tip is no good and Stanford secures the ball with 2 seconds. The Cal player appears to move towards him as if to frantically foul however changes his mind and lets the time run out. Crushed. I've now blown 1 BTC in the last 36 hours and feeling gutted, but hey Vegas!
Generally the only thing that makes the gambling losses feel not so bad is booze, and boy am I good at consuming it. Arrive at the airport, four beers in 45 mins, and we're on the flight to the motherland. quick power nap and I'm in an Uber to my hotel.
Pull out money, hit the blackjack table. Down 400. No problem, I'm a PLO wizard I'll win it back. Wynn 1-2-5. Generally an extremely soft game but when I walk up weathered, wasted, and ready to gamble the players had to have been licking their chops. Several poor decisions later we're down another 1k.
Here's an interesting tidbit I don't really remember. The first night in town I booked my hotel on Hoteltonight. When making my way back to the place after the night in Vegas at some point I went to the front desk and extended another two nights. Thing is, I never provided any card information. I woke up to the shakes and a pounding headache Monday afternoon. Three different Indian food meals from god knows where on the counter. I call the front desk to see about extending and they said I already have, I'm good through Tuesday night. I ended up getting essentially two days free as they had no card to charge me with
. Not sure how that worked out, need to contact them and see what I owe.
Shoot off a quick email to the Boss man and ask if I can take the next day off. He approves. A quick shower and change and we're back at the blackjack table with a vodka pineapple. After three or so of those I decide it's in my best interest to try my hand at PLO again, this time Venetian. Same game, 1-2-5. Play well, having fun, drinks are flowing. Drunk sets in, gamble mentality. After 7 hours up about 1,100. After 8 hours, well, down 600. F this game. I'm a BJ pro anyway I should just stick to that, so that's exactly what I do. Mirage 50 min sounds about right. Don't really remember this part of the night but manage to torch off a casual 2k before waking up in a friendzy in my hotel room the next morning. Thanks atm receipts.
Tuesday morning. Should be at work, refreshed from a Monday night workout/ sauna. Not exactly the case. I still need to book a flight home for that evening, so while laying in bed I do exactly that. Tuesday flights were pretty pricey so I look at red eye Wednesday AM flights. While scrolling a see a 6:45pm flight for 75 bucks. Finally some luck. Book the flight, get out of bed, shower. It's at this point I realize I just booked a flight for Wednesday, not tuesday. Sweet, wasting more money. 150 dollars later I'm on a 7 pm flight, on tuesday, back home.
It's at this point while walking down to the cage that I have that sobering moment that almost all degens have when preparing to leave Vegas. The real world is looming, responsibilities, priorities, expenses. I try and take a quick mental calculation of where I stand but it's certainly no where good. This has been an expensive week. The next 6 hours is spent at Wynn PLO where I do manage to make back about 1k, which helps but is a small dent to the hole I burned in my pocket.
Auntie Anne's at the airport and deep contemplation later I'm deciding whether my next move should be AA/ GA.
Anyways, that's that.
