I than keep spinning in degen bliss heaven and before I know it I'm busto on the same exact slot. Why didn't I stop when I was up alot.

I honestly believe the low stakes, micro stakes stories and people being down to their last $5 is more degen than nosebleeds where people lose tens of thousands. Those people have millions and for them a few g's is nothing. Just look at the level of emotion at the $100 bj tables vs $5 bj tables when the dealer busts or makes 21.

Like the other night this guy kept losing buy in after buy in (mind you, $40 at a time) at a live micro stakes game. It was really late at night. He was starting to borrow money from the owners of the place. Already stuck $200, he was telling the table how he was going to come up with an excuse not to show up at work. He's a blue collar worker.

So there you have it. The brain loses all rational. Even if his EV is several "$40" BI's positive, he is losing one day of work and potentially get a strike, ie: one step closer to getting fired. I've seen it happen countless times.

I will disagree. A big part of the appeal with the big money degen stories is the point where most of us say "And this is where I would stop." Right when the degen has spun things up to $12000 or so and we know the inevitable crash is about to hit him. We're satisfied that we would've walked away up a ton.

Edit: Of course this is not true that we would have walked away. Some would have walked away long before they hit 12k, others would have hit 12k or higher and then degened it away. But we can tell ourselves that we would've walked.

You're not going to mark any point where you'd stop when someone's up $50. It just doesn't have that appeal.

Look if you start the story off as, I'm a ****ing homeless guy who picked up cans all day and saved up $40 to go gamble and run it up to $500 which is life changing money, then fair enough, that's some degen ****.

This, to be a degen story the money at issue has to be enough that it can make a significant impact on your quality of life one way or the other. Bill Gates sitting down at a black jack table with a million bucks is not degen. Biggest loss of year for me yesterday $2500 cash down the drain n couldn't get ahead all day. Mainly Pai gow that game I never catch a winning streak and I decided yesterday no more of that game or roulette, slots only baccarat and poker.

It was fun day though I smoked drank are Ruth Chris steaks and gamblin all day. Damn cards were so cold though.

Almost the same thing happened to me. From up $600 to down $1700. Nut straights running into FH, sets getting guttered, getting bluffed, all the suckout a on the river.

And then, EZ Pai Gow. I don't think I've won a single hand at that game lifetime. Just like at the roulette. Almost every session I will see a spot get like a king-high 6-8 times in a row. While the dealer is clockwork on 2 pair minimum. $3300 downswing.

My worst hand was one where I was playing three spots, had three full houses (basically trips with a pair as the 2nd hand, a monster). Dealer opens up:

I won some hands, but especially when chasing I try for a win then double it, then i go back to a lower bet. Well when i would win, say 100 into 200, put that 200 up and like clockwork, dealer got stronger hand. My last hand i was excited, i had JJ bottom, 77 top, dealer opens AJoker, QQ!

I put the A9 on top. It's borderline. Dealer opened a small pair with AK on top. Should've split. I had AA on the other hand, which means keeping them together I am only fading KK or other 2 pair. Figured three aces were gone so my A9 was good.

i was in mississippi for a weekend a friend had comps because hes a degenerate. i was going to play some live poker and take advantage of hospitality. stayed two nights at the palace ( pretty much for old people) . plan was to not play the first night we arrived but just to sleep and go hard the next day. i brought 4k to play 2/5 and what ever else i wanted and i had a little over 1,000 in the bank. first night there we put our bags up in the room and said " hey lets go down and check out the tables well watch not play and head back up" lol. there was no poker room so we went in the small casino they had and decided to sit and play 5$ min bet blackjack. they had free drinks ( which they dont in florida) so id never drank and gambled before. the waitresses were on point with the drinks with in the first hour i had 4 shots of jamesons and 3 heinekens. the more we drank the bigger the glasses they brought of jameson were lol. we didnt sleep the first night and i lost count after that of what i drank but with a few moments of clearity i remember that morning being down 2k. we took a breather and got some food at the beua rivage they had poker so i sat and grinded a few hours some how i came back up made the 2k i lost plus 600$. we got back to the palace with the plan to sleep a little and maybe play some before we leave. well again no sleep and were back in the small palace casino. the waitresses are giving us all the jameson i can handle . that i night i completely black out and woke up the next day completely broke and pretty much with an empty bank account. my friend told me we were going big in the high limit room i dont ****ing remember ****. lol. the hopefull degenerate in me walks into the casino as were checking out with the worst hangover ive ever had in my life. takes the last 20 i had and tried to make a comeback at 1$ min bet blackjack. first hand i bet the whole stack 20 whole dollars and dealer deals me two kings and himself blackjack. i leave and sleep the whole way back to florida and then panic at the mess i was in then regrouped lol. had to get a job again... for a while atleast. ( side note of my epic degen night all i remember is shipping monster towers of chips on red and black at roulette. i have no idea how to play roulette sober much less wasted . also i remember yelling evertime i won a hand at blackjack how i was going to press it and go big or go home) to bad i didnt wake up rich. lol
