I had some bitcoins lying around. Decided that my life is a piece of sh*t and i better take some gambles. Deposited only 0,175 btc at some casino, ran it up on slots to about 9 btc which would have provided me with a decent bankroll for poker but thought that i better take even bigger risks to go big or go home. I ended up at about 3 btc and went home instead.

Are we all born degens? Some more degenerate than others? Or do we learn the behaviour?

I have degen qualities in me, not sure how they got there.

5. girlfriend and I are on the rocks; and
6. I gamble every single day on sport which I have no idea about. Money which I can't afford and will leave me feeling sick if I lose.

Thank you for your post. In many ways gambling has consumed my life over the past 12 years. I've come to understand its purpose, namely, to escape.

I turn to gambling when I'm at home with my parents, when I have an argument with my girlfriend and when I'm bored at work. In other words, all the time.

The answer must be to live a life which is enjoyable enough to not want to escape from.

Lot of people worse off than yourself in the world, and I assume you have the most important thing, your health, to a degree? Maybe you need a reality check, a trip to Africa, somewhere deep in poverty. It might just make you appreciate what you have a bit more.

I partook in some light degening this evening. I had to go near the casino for something else and remembered that I had a promotion available to me, so I decided to stop in.

I put all my promo money on a single hand of blackjack. I got dealt 2 black kings. The dealer was showing a T. He peeked and looked like he was about to flip the A, but then smiled and winked and didn't. He ended up flipping an 8. Free money!

Instead of walking out, I put it all on the next hand. Peel an A and then make blackjack. I figured I was freerolling so I did it once more. Get another 2 paint cards. Dealer shows an 8, flips a 6, and busts. I decide to play just one more hand, this time with only half of what I have in front of me. Get 2 aces with dealer showing a 5. Split obv. Make 20 and 21.

If I were a real degen I would have stayed, but I left.

sick day that made me want to quit for good. got in a small 2 table sit n go type tournament where only 3 cash. Down to 4, i call a short stack shove with K8 clubs, he shows 67, 6 hits. Soon im gone. So i go to the casino, and proceed to lose about 4500$ in mostly cash advances. My last 900 advance i got up to 2200, but knowing im still stuck, im betting heavy on roulette. very heavy for me, like $50 a number. Did bad. Tryed blackjack with strategy of double 250 if i win, press 500. Kept winning the first losing the second. Tried high limit slots, nothing big there. I was in such good shape financially, now stuck again. Really feeling hurt right now and sick inside.

Well played sir. A lot of the posters in this thread could learn from you. I come here to de-tilt after I lose a flip. It works really well. Not to say I've never degened before. I lost 1200 of my last 2.5k (to my name(college days)) at 2-5 and took a cash advance for 1600. I had literally every penny on the table, and I'm ****ing married. It was one the most shameful moments of my life. Luckily, I've never had trouble not being scared money. Left with 4k. I'm still not sure if it was pride that made me stay or that the game really was too good and I was running bad.

Now when we go to the casino we take 500 and leave all the cards in the room. We pregame so hard(no free booze at Cherokee) that there's just no chance we make the journey all the way back up to the room and don't crash. It works really well...for us anyway. I do understand the struggle tho guys.
