well, i actually i kind of have to go this year. I am also a registered hong kong citizen officially. But there is a law that states that, since i live abroad i must visit hong kong every 3 years or i'll lose my hong kong nationality (obivously, this is the third year since i lastr went). Not that losing my HK id is a big deal, but i have some stuff in HK that i inherited (including a tiny bit of real estate) and it will be a pain to claim it all without having my HK nationality.

I just turned 18 and just got my student loan. Boom. Unfortunately I had to pay for accommodation which left me with about $100 to my name which to last me a few months unless I went into my overdraft.

Anyways I made a $50 deposit on full tilt, ran it up to about $300 or so playing HU and cash games. Decided to enter a $75 donkament and proceed to cash for 4th place for a nice $3700. Withdraw $2000, become a winner at 1/2 holdem (6.8bb winner but only over a reaaaaly small sample of 6k hands :P ) , but gamble most of the rest away with tournaments, (for example entered the $550 donkament). :S

Try my luck on stars as I discovered that I wasn't getting rakeback on full tilt. Deposited $400 and have no idea what happened to that money, but at one point I remember buying in at the 10/20 badugi table for $600, running it up to $1400, and eventually being all in with a pair on the river and won. Escaped with roughly my original $600.

My degen'ing and winning HU SNG's (with the exception of the first big peak... that was a freeroll $100 win that got me started)... someone should tell me to stop increasing stakes everytime I lose a heads-up match... my roll would probably thank me later. The first part shows me trying to be responsible after my initial big win. Then I go back to my old ways. (note the terrible EV lol... woops... also notice where the first big spike down occurs... and how I somehow managed to have even more -EV than what I lost haha.)

3 days ago i was gonna deposit 1k at stars and win alot of money. instead i saw this commercial about jackpot 6000 my fav slot b4 it was outlawed in my country.
figured i migth awell try it out b4 moving the money to stars account.

2h later i hit the first jackpot at 1euro pr click, the another one at 2euros and it continues all the way up to around 15k$ (4jackpots.whats the odds!?) my biggest win outside of poker. 3h later all gone + the rest of my bank account. rent is due this week and i am clueless on what to do. other than that life is great!

How do you feed money into a machine for 2 hours straight and not lose more than $1k, then win $15k on a single play, and 3 hours later have lost it all? Were you not sticking to the one slot you came to play? Did you think maybe something was wrong once you lost about $10k?

I just don't understand how it's possible to be up 10x or more your starting stake, at any game, and not notice when you're getting back down to 5x, 4x, 3x, 2x, 1x your starting stake and make appropriate adjustments to either the stakes you're playing or your situation (i.e., leave)

I'm not trying to bash you in particular, this is kinda a general question maybe people can help me with. Sorry to hear about your loss, if it helps I've never won more than $100 US in a single day at anything.

I understand. Does it never occur to someone that they can come back and do it tomorrow for many more hours if they leave up or even? Or does every single degen go to the casino with the mentality I'm not going to win, and furthermore I'm not leaving till all the money I plan to lose, followed by all the money I have access to, is gone, then I can drive home thinking about whether it's a good idea to crash into the median at high speed?

I mean I have a nicotine addiction and I smoke a lot and I still ration my cigarettes when I have 3 left and I know I'm not going to have access to the car for another 8 hours. If I followed an analogous action to half these guys' stories I would promptly chain smoke those 3 and then break into my neighbor's house, steal their cigarettes, and chain them, then call up all my friends at 3am and beg them to run to the store and bring me more.

I've read this thread through multiple times and I enjoy reading it, but I also like solving problems, and it's pretty damn hard without understanding where all the rationale goes.
