@rusty... I agree.. For someone who has so many relatively positive things going on in life I'm throwing it all down the drain.

Its such a sh*tty feeling and I can't seem to break this bad habit. I feel like I'm letting everyone around me down. I know I'm addict and yet I always find myself in a casino throwing my hard earned money away.

I JUST DID IT AGAIN F'ING TODAY...

@JEP I think i just hit rock bottom.I made another trip to the casino today and lost everything. 27$ LEFT TO MY NAME, all credit cards maxed, and a payday loan. FML.

I don't know how I'm going to explain this to my fiance. Telling her our dog can't have his surgery because I gambled all our money away.

Lets hope so. We all love these degen stories but I like it when it was someone's one time thing from the past. I don't like hearing about someone knowingly ruining their lives like this due to addiction. You are going to end up losing your pet and relationship if you don't go get help. I hope you realize this. Otherwise it's falling on deaf ears.

Give up casino as it will always be the same as soon you go into the casino it a lot more likely you will lose then win. Its there job to take you for as much as possible

i had a problem gambleing for years the way i got over it was to only bet sports like golf,nfl.rugby,f1 sports (no dogs or horses or casino were lose in seconds) watch and enjoy a sport and is more of a buzz when bet money you can afford to lose

when i bet i see it as entertainment now and dont do it to win, do it for fun

i still get my buzz but when i lose it not bother me was like buying movie ticket

dont think aa will help as i think its all down to yourself and no one else.

gl and stay away from casino go pub or anything else but not casino

Please seek help. Start with Gamcare and consider self exclusion. Nobody enjoys reading about this type of problem, and I'm sure everyone here wants you to resolve your problem. Good luck.

Pocket,

It's really sad to read your stories because it sounds like you do have a lot going for you. Rest assured YOU WILL lose all of it if you don't turn yourself around and get help. You should honestly never set foot in a casino again from the sounds of it. You have to completely remove yourself from all things gambling so you don't even have an opportunity to think about it, that may include not coming back to two plus two as well, as we all know its easy to just start wasting time on here perhaps reading stories of people actually winning money and you'll just get into that mindset again like "hey, maybe I can win too!" even though you never win.

You are risking throwing away so many good things in your life and for what? A very temporary thrill followed by inevitable self loathing.

It's a start that you came clean to your fiance. Understand that everyone has their breaking point. Don't push her so far that you will lose her forever.

GA is the answer. Saying it's 'not for you' is a cop out. Either you want to quit or you don't.

Gambling is the hardest of all addictions to break, including alcohol, cocaine and heroin.

It also has the highest rate of suicide.

If you don't get help it will ruin you, one way or another.

Get busy living or get busy dying.

Rockets bro I've been real close to where u are

You need to make a choice

Either let your fiance go and dgen your life away
Or
Stick with her and get your dgen under control

But its not fair to ruin her life also.

I chose B and while there are times that A looks good in hindsight, my life is great now. I got a beautiful 2 year old and 1 on the way. My dgening is a fraction of What It used to be. But I still fight some demons and that life honestly does grossly appeal to me. I'm not saying that you need to be a saint. If you truly waanna go down that road then do it. But Don't make her suffer with you. That you WILL regret

PR,

May I suggest you replace your gambling 'habit' with something less degenerate? Personally I found salvation in the gym and then later with rock climbing and mountain climbing (still extreme amounts of excitement and risk with these last two activities, but I get SO MUCH more out of life with these new 'habits').

Rocket bud seriously no one is seeking entertainment from your stories anymore. You really need to realize that the things you have in life can disappear all too quickly. You have a fiancé who has stuck by you to this point and who wants to marry you. If you don't seek help you will lose her, the future house, kids, so chance to create a nest egg, everything because you need help with your addiction. Please please please make sure you go to the meeting on Friday. As others suggested please ban yourself from all casinos for a year at minmum. You need time to start the healing process and you have such huge life events coming up do you want to risk losing all of that. Im thinking of you man and praying that you seek the help you need.

Damn man, I really feel for you Rocket.
I've got a dog myself that should be turning two years old anytime soon and I've had it since it was only eight weeks old.
Only the thought that someone, someday might harm her ,for whatever reason, infuriates me. Dogs are the most loyal, loving creatures out there, always welcoming you at the door being all excited that you're home.
If you love your dog just as much as I do (and I'm sure you do), then I can only imagine how dreadful you must feel, blowing all your money away and now coming up short for the procedures your dog needs.

If I'd have a lot of money to my name, which I unfortunately don't, I'd ship the expenses to you within a heart beat.

Hope your dog becomes well, that you get out of this hole and that you can get rid of your problem, following the GA program.

Best of luck sir, do well for the sake of yourself and the people around you.

I'd suggest you make a thread out of your progress and the way you feel (possible urges to gamble).
There are a lot of members out here that sympathize with you and that would like you help you in any way possible. Even if that's only by listening and encouraging you to stop what you've been doing for so long, from a far distance.

Rocket, I have no sympathy for you.

You brought upon this on yourself. No outside forces. Just you degening it up. There's something called responsibility and you have none.

You do not deserve your dog nor your girlfriend. You obviously don't care for them as much as you think you do.

Your value your degen-fix more than them.

@nach You really think I wanted things to turn out this way. It's a horrible disease that I'm going to try and fix.

I wouldn't wish these feelings on my worst enemy.

@Caravallo thanks for the posts. It's amazing how your perspective can change when it's no longer just effecting your own well being. I truly regret my decisions and am in the process of selling some personal belongings to pay for my dogs procedure.
