Back at uni I had a crappy part time job paying me $80 a week. Enough to get me by.
I had maxed my credit card of 2k and was paying it off slowly.

One day I decided to goto another bank and open up another credit card for emergencies and stuff. Received the credit card with a limit of 2k and gambled it all in the space of 1h 45 mins. Felt sick afterwards. Received a courtesy call the next day saying they believe my card to be an error since it was maxed in such a short period of time and confirmed if i did receive it or if I haven't received it and there must be an error. I was truthful and said i maxed it!

Spent the next 18 months paying it off.

Have been playing online poker for 3 years, I'm 24 Live at home with a parent. I have averaged around 20-25k playing exclusively online each year, in 2012 I start off well cashing out on bovada 8 straight weeks 2k a week with Western union. Over the next 6 months i make 3 trips to Borgata to play in events, 2 Trips to delaware park poker to play in events and 5-10 trips to Charlestown hollywood casino in West Virginia. Dont cash in any events even after being chipleader for couple of hours in alot of the tournies just to get badbeat later on when it counts..(I live in VA btw)

Its now June and i have about 4500 left to my name that i was going to use to move out and get my own place. but being in debt,not satisified with my life and just wanting to live and chase my dream I decide to take my first trip to vegas to play in the $1500 omaha hi low event. I figure if i can get in the cash i still will double my money and may win alot of money @ worst.To make a short story short i stay @ the Rio for a week lose 250th place out of like 900 no cash. have 400 dollars left to my name go to Caesars next day to play in $240 omaha hi low tourny get badbeat their. $160 left to my name go back to my room for 3 days while i lay disgusted looking out the window asking for help from the lord.

The last day i leave my hotel room and play keno for 5 hours because of check out time @ 12pm and my flight not leaving untill 11 pm that night. So I'm their surrounded by old people blowing smoke in my face coughing up old people fluid sneezing and etc.. lol i wind up spending $100 on keno managing to win back 20 dollars in that 5 hour time span. I then get on the shuttle and leave and have to wait another 5 hours @ the airport. I fall asleep maybe only an hour on the plane and land back in DC i walk through the airport with my head held high but wondering why everyone is staring at me(old people, ugly people, fat people, kids EVERYONE including an ARAB guy the airport security stopped and was asking questions to)as if im a terrorist when walking to baggage claims. I get my luggage get another shuttle to my hotel and drive back To good old Virginia i look in the mirror and notice 100% of my face is peeling off due to the medicine the dermatologist gave me for my face and I look like a cute crackhead/freddy kruger. I'm now back home grinding trying to get to 4k for Borgata open trip. btw as im typing this i just lost my last 1k I grinded up all this week from 100 WU deposit from playing in a 5/10 omaha hi low game. Man, you are doing Vegas wrong. You don't want to be playing tournaments with 25% - 35% of your roll. That is ridiculous.

Next year for the WSOP this is what you want to do with a $4500ish roll.

First off, you can't go to Vegas without grinding 1/2nl. Playing 1/2nl in Vegas is literally like printing money. Planet Hollywood is a fish factory. You can grind out a super easy $400 - $1k per day playing 1/2nl.

This is the money you use to play tourneys with. Alternate between playing tourneys and grinding your roll via 1/2nl cash game.

Next, the Rio side tournaments are what you want to be playing if you are on a short roll. $180 - $235 buy-ins (600 - 1700 people, $15K - $60K first place, 15k starting chips, decent structure)

You hit or run really good in the cash games and get your roll over $9000 then you can take a shot at a $1500 WSOP event.

Basically, if you go back and forth from grinding 1/2nl and playing the side tourneys, you can stay in Vegas during the entire WSOP. Assuming, that is, you are a winning player in the cash game.

^ If you land on the right game you could make more than $1K a day and you wouldn't even need cards to do so. I have never lost playing 1/2 in Vegas. The problem is I'm a degen and I always look for the highest game that I could afford to buy in to.

Assuming you are a winning player, you can grind out $400 - $1k per day playing 1/2nl during WSOP (tons of nice donk/tourist action) and if you are willing to sit and grind 10hrs+.

And I didn't say $1k per day, I said $400 - $1k per day. Huge difference. But I should have said $400+, may bad

My story.

Found poker at secondary school but only got into it properly whilst at uni (free student loan moneys).

Started off depositing $30 on FT. Busto.
Few weeks later $50 on Stars. Busto.

Read poker books, read websites, watch videos etc etc.

$50 on Stars, run up to $110 in a week with proper brm and
All going well then tilt and busto, I decide to move from 2c4c to 10c25c and shove every hand. Why? I have no ****ing idea.

At about the same time I discover my local grosvenor casino so I think - oh i suck at online poker and I hear of loads of fish at 50p/£1 so i decide to head down. From about november to january I have made £800 profit (some nights losing a bit some night winning a lot) and can't be happier.

I start heading casino a lot and my friend who is a degen comes with me a few times, he plays blackjack and i play poker. One night I lose 100 on poker and head over to him wanting to leave. He's just ran £40 into £360 playing perfect pairs on a £5 blackjack table, so i buy in for £100 and play with him for a bit. we both walk away up £200 ish each.

You can guess the rest.

1 year later, we've both finished uni, and are broke about £1600. (losing all my poker profits too)

huge overdraft. my girlfriend takes any money off me which i earn through gigs so i don't go back to the casino. (she does give it back when rent is due but only then). so i'm living eating reduced bread and beans. still addicted too - lost 70 quid the other day but hey haven't told her yet.

Back in the day I'm making $200 a week selling electronics while going to college. I win 14k betting sports with a bookie hitting literally every bet I make. Parlays, reverses, winning everything.
The week goes Monday to Sunday. I get paid out Monday, by Wednesday I'm stuck 12k and pay it off in order to chase the $$ down. Wednesday night I lose 6k.
Now I have 2k to my name and I'm stuck 6k. I got to atlantic city and sit and play blackjack for $100 a hand. I'm up 4k after 3 hours. Essentially I now have all the $$ I need to pay off the bookie. The smart move is to book a win and go home. 2 hours later I'm taking out $20 on a credit card to pay the tolls to get home. Lost it all.
