"The summer vacations came, so i found a job in a local supermarket and worked there for two months(summer vacations are ~ three months long), wasnt betting during the summer.Although, the day i quit i thought i could gamble a little, went out and bet half of my earnings(~700 euro) on MLB,just based on coefficient, i put my money on Yankees in hope to win ~1100,obviously they lost, so the next day i went and bet my last money, which i lost as well.I couldnt just go to my mom and say i gambled it away,so i asked a friend to punch me in the face 10 times, that didnt go well ,because he broke my nose, but my face looked like a peperoni pizza, so i went to my mom and said that some gangsters kicked my ass and took my money, that worked"

One of the better degen stories.

5*.

However, why not just stick it in the bank for a year then enjoy?!

Made roughly $1200 working as a Deli Clerk a few summers back. I ended up quitting because I hated it.

Took the $$ and drove 9 hours to Atlantic City. Hit a $50 0/00 17:1 split bet on the 2nd try.

2 days later that + the rest of my bank account was gone. All betting 0/00 split. At anywhere from $25-$200 a spin.

Beat: Lost my summer earnings playing Roulette
Brag: Harrahs gave me room comps for being a degen
Variance: Rear-ended someone at a Jersey tollbooth but they didn't file an insurance claim.

24/11/09 infact 24/11 0 anything just happens to be my g/fs birthday, that was a hard one. Blew like a g then had to take her for dinner and pretend to be happy. One of the worst nights in my life, so fkn tilted, im tryin to hold decnt convo, but really im just like gtfo man i wanna blow up a building or summit.

01/12/09 a living fkn nightmare. Tilted at roullette, just kept redopositing, betting 100 on 17 or summit, lose, redeposit. Titan actually phoned my house straight up on this afternoon, to confirm if i was the 1 doing the betting or if my accy had been hacked.

The convo went something like this.

Just to confirm u are Rory ?????? ur birthday is the 01/09/1983 etc etc

Me, like, **** OFF U **** its me cant u tell im fkn tilting *** off

(phone smashes against wall)

Lost 43k. About half my bankroll. I am retired from poker forever.

Didn't even play that big... 5/10 NL and 40/80 limit (one session of 10/25 NL at rio only because game was extremely good). Lost almost every single day. I went from being devestated, to determined, back to devestated.. then took a bunch of days off, tried to comeback in a very clean sharp manner, staying in positive mood and mindset and not thinking about how much I was losing, just playing every hand as best I can...

It never ended.... I've been playing this game for 4 years and every single year it is an extreme struggle.... always is. I never ever considered myself even remotely lucky, Always grinded out through the most stressful times and came out ahead...

This year its different. I cannot win. Everything I know about odds just means nothing, the term EV seems laughable. I reached my breaking point last night when I was lying on the bathroom floor almost in tears. I don't care about money anymore, I'm not gonna let this game ruin my life. There is a lot of beautiful things in this world and this "game" is really not one of them.

I dunno how much of a degen story this really is but I sure feel like one. And I don't like it one bit.

highlights:
c/raising Jd9d on QdTd7c .... having the original better fold a queen, and having the button caller backraise shove 3c3s, running it twice and losing them both for 6k.

all in on flop with TT on a J43 rainbow board against 24 and losing to a river 2 for 9k. one orbit later all in on flop with AhAd on a Ks4h7s against AsJs and losing to a river 8s for 12.8k (both of these were the rio 10/25 game).
had set over set 4 times in the first 10 days or so.... 3s, 4s and 5s, all lost to 7s, then 6s to As. All of them were completely standard, the one set of 3s vs 7s I thought I could have just called the river instead of raise, but I went over that hand with my friends and they think the river raise is fine. Oh and had TT vs 77 on a T9775 board too. Thats my happy set over over set story when I had top set. NL is ****ed in the sense that if you run bad on all the very big all-in pots you play, you get so utterly decimated.

I think I could proooobably make all this money back but I don't want to. To think I could run this bad again at any given time down the road, has inspired me to retire forever. I am also probably not good enough to detach myself from what is happening. I just can't help but feel like I am "owed" something after running bad in every single big pot, and obviously thats such a fallacy to think this way... and the longer and the more frequent I run below EV the more I feel I'm owed.
I don't know what I lose first, my bankroll or my sanity ? they go down equally at the same I think.
Just to give you a hint, you´re not a degenerate

- if you stop playing before all your money is gone
- if you get it in with OESFD+Overcards vs 2nd nut low underpair and run it TWICE (HH made me lol btw).

Stop derailing this thread, it´s just not for you.

this may not seem that bad I guess but it was bad for me

I haven't touched a sports bet since December 2010 when I basically bet sports like a mad man for an entire week when I was sick of the grind, barely sleeping in anticipation of the next sports bet, throwing down $500 dollar bets on ridiculous **** like 1st period totals and other stupid **** lol I probably gambled over 10,000 that week easily but only lost a few hundred overall. so it wasn't that bad to the bankroll

well I went back to grinding hardcore after that until last Thursday when I got sick of the grind and did it again LOL

it all started with a nite on the town, after too many drinks my friend says lets go to the casino i say **** it lets go I can beat blackjack lol drinkaments. take out $500 which is alot of money to me at the moment since my bankroll WAS only like $4500. Sit down at the $25 min. BJ table and proceed to lose about the first 8 of 10 hands. Finally get on a little rush and get back up to $450 or so and decide to chip up, proceed to lose the rest very fast last hand I recall having 19 with a $75 dollar bet and the dealer showing a 4, i knew I was going to lose, i just knew it, I even stood up in anticipation to leave before she pulled a 2,3,4,3,4 to go along with her 4 for ****ing 20 i leave and go home feeling like ****

Next day I'm still sick of grinding so I decide I will wager a little on some sports games. I load up $500 on bodog and see a CFL game that is tickling my fancy and take the over. at half time ther was 32 points and I am on my way to a winner. 2nd half is brutal shut down 2 and out fest and it falls shy by 5 points. I have about $450 in bodog and say **** it and throw it all on the seattle/texas rangers under 1st 5 innings total 3. 1st better up ian ****ing kinsler 1st ****ing inning hits a home run. Im pacing back and forth in my condo, sweating, having heat flashes and thinking I am gonna lose. Luckily the mariners have scored a total of like 2 runs in the last 40 innings and the game is tied 1-1 after the 5 inning. This brings my bodog account up to 860 ish. I pass out from the exhaustion from the 1.5 hour sweat of a baseball game and wake up in the middle of the night. I run to the computer to check the lines and see a juicey baseball game I like and decide to throw down. Well I really decide to throw down, I go all in on this and a few other small $10 dollar parlays. I go back to bed and set my alarm at 10Am to wake up intime to catch the first pitch, I wake up at 9am lol. Well to make a long story short I miss my bet for .5 runs and decide thats it for sports betting. BACK TO THE GRIND I GO AND VERY DETERMINED AT THAT. SOMETIMES U GOTTA GET THE DEGEN OUTTA YA ONCE IN AWHILE

now off to the goals forum to start my new post

only thing sports betting and blackjack is good for is busting bankrolls.

Doubled my tuition money from gold investments but could have quadrupled it if I had gotten in at the right time. Made $400 playing tournaments but lost $500 playing a live cash game. ****er had 69 and got a straight on the turn but checked and got my stack on the river didn't expect such an advanced play given what people say about live games, the guy was a high stakes regular playing at my table because nobody was playing higher that night, he played like 80% of his hands and kept straddling and double straddling, every times a new player sat at the table that guy would isolate him and after a few hands put him all in with the nuts. He had over a thousand BB when I left; I'm so mad I thought live cash games were easy money. More to come.

Make no mistake gentlemen, if you have a story about being driven half-mad losing thousands of dollars, or about recklessly deviant behavior, it is more than welcome in this thread.

My Macau trips usually included a night in a famous sauna near the Sands; an hour with a model there costs around the same as a night in a 5 star hotel but to me this is more worth it and more than compensates for the crappy night of sleep. I started tracking all my revenues and expenses on my phone last October and so far the expense under "Entertainment - Girls" is over US$3000 and it hasn't been a year since I started tracking. My initial goal when I started gambling was actually to make enough to cover these expenses but I now have bigger goals. I also kept the phone number of most of these girls just in case I ever need it.
