Lol don't misquote me. I wrote "physically pretty ok", meaning I haven't degenerated into some 150 kg blob who takes no care of himself and never sees the light of day. And by intoxicants I meant I don't suffer from alcoholism or smoke or have a drug problem. That might sound condescending to someone but whatever...

As to my story, I don't get the paycheck until Monday so it's a weekend without the grind. A lost opportunity. Maybe I'll play some FPP satellites.

More on degening: for me it started when I was introduced to slot machines when I was 13. They have them in virtually every grocery store and supermarket here where I live. Subsequently got into sportsbetting but that never was a serious issue for me. When you start at a young age it really grows on you.

When I was 15 our school class did a trip to another town where we visited an amusement park. Aside from the usual rides and stuff there were a few game halls with numerous slots. I spent the whole time there and lost everything I had with me. Was preeetty bummed afterwards. I guess I got what I had gone after, though - as the old saying goes for a gambler gambling and losing is the next best thing after gambling and winning. Addictions suck.

I'm not quite sure how the urge for gambling translates into poker. Well I know I'm not on the nittier side but I think especially in PL omaha it can be really detrimental. Assuming, of course, that you have some clue about what you are doing - it's not hard to limp-call and check-call urself broke in any game. But in PLO you know you are rarely that far behind no matter how you play so if you crave action you might just love to get it in time after time and eventually the small edges add up big. I've never had anyone review my play but I think I have huge leaks in that department. Also I have a serious fancy play syndrome (even if I get it right on my reads pretty often 3-/4-betting postflop in omaha with little to no outs with majority of your stack is not good poker).

Anyway, post more, folks.

after playing for 5 hours and breaking even last night i took half my roll and sat down at a 5-10 plo game for 2 rotations, chopped one 800 dollar pot for a small profit, and then won the last hand i played for 38 dollars profit

got up and went to bed a winner


i have on numerous occasions taken 100 dollar deposits and ran them up to 2-3k playing heads up 50nlhe or 50plo only to take a shot and go bust.


am working hard on getting rid of most my degen habits, obv still have the urge to play bigger

About 4-5 years ago, I used to play at the Tropicana in AC 5-6 days a week so I got to know most of the players fairly well.

Anyway, this 22 year old kid recent college grad began playing from either Virginia or North Carolina every weekend. He'd drive the 6-8 hours each weekend.

After a few months, he decides to move to AC and become a "pro." Within two weeks, the guy is busto and a 12 month lease on an apartment. He literally has no money for food or rent.

So the guy hangs around the room going to each table saying he'll do anything for a $1. People are having him sing "Mary had a little lamb" or tell funny jokes for a $1.

seems familiar.

i built my roll from $100 deposit.
i bought pt3 and 4 tabled 25nl immediately because i didnt want to do the 10nl grind.

i've never looked back.

I live and go to school near AC on my way to a MBA. Sometimes I head down there before school and try to grind a little. School starts at 6, I have to leave around 5ish to get there and park...

I am at the Taj, it is just after 5 and I am on the button, playing 1/2 up 300. I say to myself this is my last hand, I have a quiz... I look down at KK...I think to myself ok, a good hand to end the night. One guy who has me nearly covered (+/- $50) raises to $12 in MP. I reraise to $40. He makes it $100. He has been very LAG until this point, so I push. Instacalls with AA...well I rebought and stayed there until 3:30 am...needless to say I missed class got a zero on the quiz and missed a lesson that took me at least three weeks to catch up with. not very degen yet, we will see what the final grades are like...

I play 25nl on a 5500$ bankroll I grinded from initial 25$ deposit. Ive cashed out twice for another 5000$ (combined). Every time I try moving up I play on scared money so eventually I just stopped.

I also don't multitable more than 4 at once.
