i love it. just recently ran my bofa account to overdrawn 650. was taht way for almost 2 weeks. i figured out that is the limit, everything else got bounced. accrued like 200 worth of overdraft charges.

My (very small) degen story:

Deposit $100 on merge. Breakeven over 4500 hands 4NL. Tilt and go down 11 BIs in one session to $56. Play 25HU and bring it up to $125 with a hit and run. Find it difficult to grind 4NL after such a rush so I load up 25HU again and get wrecked and go back down to $18. Resolve myself to never play behind my bankroll again as I go back to grinding 4NL. Hit a huge heater over the next 3k hands and my roll is back to 100.

degen story from dad: we were out of town and forced to take the city bus, and apparently its much cheaper for senior citizens to ride the bus, like .20 cents for them and like $1 for me, my dad is not considered a senior yet and he told the driver he was a senior!

In my early poker days, I thought online poker was too boring and played live-only.Since I didn't have a decent bankroll and didn't pay my bills myself I used to carry all my money with me and use it to play poker.I would occasionally lose literally everything and have to WALK back home from the casino in the middle of the night tilted.

I live 10 miles away from the local casino.

I have a friend who has flunked out of Gamblers Anonymous many times and he told me this story. A school bus driver in Illinois was at a G.A. meeting and said one day on his route one of the kids dropped a quarter on his way off the bus. He quickly scooped it up and drove to Harrah's with kids still on the bus. Told them he'd be back in a few minutes and put the quarter in a slot machine with predictable results , came back and finished his route.

I went out drinking with my friends and started gettin chatted up in this dirty rock club. I was completely ****faced and i was just monging out at the bar and could barely see. I've been considering posting this for a while. Names have been changed to protect the innocent, but I'm sure there will be people familiar that recognize those involved.
A few details at the end are unknown to me, so apologies in advance....


About 3 years ago, I take a drive with a friend "Derek" to the casinos about 1.5 hours away. It's a Sunday followed by a holiday, either MLK Day or President's Day.
We casino hopped a bit during the day. We're planning on leaving in the early evening and sit down at the 1/2 NL game in the late afternoon to kill a few hours.

There's a guy at the table who we both recognized from playing the local bar tournaments back home, "Will". It was the type of thing where we both didn't remember his name but knew him enough to say "what's up". He remembered us but didn't remember our names either. Will always was a decent, friendly guy at the games. He was probably in his mid-20's and from what I remembered worked at an auto parts store. I also remember him having a really hot girlfriend.

So we sit and make a little small talk. Eventually Will starts asking how we got down there, where we live, who drove, when we're planning on heading home. I must have been slow in the brain at the time, but it didn't occur to me that he was looking for a ride back, since we're from the same area. We continue playing. Will stacked Derek at one point. Derek rebought and eventually I went busto. I tell Derek that I'll give him some more time to play and wait outside the poker room. We'd already talked about leaving soon.

Sitting out there, it hits me that Will was fishing for a ride back. Eventually Will comes out and tells me that he talked to Derek (who drove), and Derek agreed
to give him a ride. OK, no problem. Derek is the type of guy who's not very good at saying No, so I'm not surprised. We exchange phone numbers, and Will tells me to call him when we're ready to go. Then he says "I'll be in the high stakes blackjack area" and walks away.

WHAT?? How does this guy have the money for high stakes blackjack? He plays free bar poker and was sitting at 1/2 with probably $200. Nothing ever indicated he had money, from this trip or from what I remember playing poker with him at home. It makes no sense to me.

Derek later finishes and I call Will. He says to come meet him in the high stakes blackjack. I guess he was serious. We walk down and find him sitting at a table with probably about 20 black $100 chips in front of him. Wow.

As we're walking to the cashier, he tells a story about a hand of multiple splits and doubles where he lost about $500. It didn't seem to bother him at all.

We walk out to the parking garage, and Will is saying that he came down with friends on Saturday, and he stayed behind when they left. OK, I was wondering why he was at the casino with no way home. Who stays behind with no plan to get home? He says something about how he's having a hard time finding a hotel for tonight because of the holiday. He also revealed that he drives an old Lexus with 90K miles on it, so again I have no reason to believe he had this much $ to gamble.

As we're just about to reach the car he stops and says "I gotta go back. Thanks for offering the ride, but I have to stay and keep playing". OK, dude. We're happy, since it means we don't have to go out of the way to drive him.

So, it seemed like the story ended there. The lesson learned was "Wow, you never know who secretly has lots of money". It seemed strange. Both Derek and I told the story to some people, but it wasn't a big deal.


Now comes the crazy part.....

A few days later, Derek mentions this to a friend of his, "Tom", who also knows Will from the bar poker league. It turns out that Tom had bought a car from Will just a few days prior to our casino trip. In the time between the trip and telling Tom the story, Tom had been pulled over and nearly arrested because the car was reported stolen!!!

It turns out that Will had told his girlfriend that he was taking her car to get repaired, sold it to Tom to feed his gambling habit, and told his girlfriend it was stolen.

Obviously Tom is livid (the car was taken away), and knowing he gambled away the money sets him off even more. The next day, Will (not knowing about Tom being pulled over), shows up at a bar tournament where Tom was. He takes will outside, threatens violence, and Will agrees to pay him back, except he has no money.

I'm not exactly sure of the conclusion. I'd only mentioned it to Tom once, and he wasn't in the mood to talk about it. I'm not sure if the police were involved. I'd heard a rumor that Will's parents helped him pay back the money, but I really don't know how this ended.

Even hearing this is disgusting, and you typed it.

This story would end perfectly if somehow, someway you were able to plow his now ex-girlfriend, if indeed she is hot.
