Anyone claiming that 85k a year is enough to go for steak dinners really doesn't get the psychology of a degen. Is it enough sure it is. But spending $200 on dinner regularly prob isn't the best finincial plan.

What he means by this is that for example you just win $2000 at the casino that overpriced dinner is free. It's the best feeling in the world. Great dinner and it doesn't cost you anything.

For one of those dinners. When I was degening I did all the time because hey it was free money.

It's been almost 2 years for me and can say I am almost outta debt from degening. I have some savings. The urges die off after time but it's so important to find your trigger times and always make other plans to make sure your not bored when you normally go

I am ill and don't feel well, I have sore throat flem, headaches , feel sick and acheing bones

So am trying my hardest to suck a lemon.

Last 2 weeks I've run a $200 deposit into 6.3k. Playing a few hours after work most days. Almost dusted the ****er off in one session. Losing a bunch to one guy who ran so good vs me. Obviously increasing stakes as the session go on. Get down to my last k, buy in for 1k plo and beast it to 5.5k
So relieved. Time to cash out and run like a mother

"Bradley"

So, last night I am standing solo in line at the dinner buffet here at Jack Casino Cincinnati and this pudgy nerdy looking guy with glasses in a blue polo too tight for his body walks up to me and asks, "Are you going to be paying cash for the buffet?" I say, "Yeah," and he replies, "Don't do that. I have a buffet for two coupon I have to use by the end of the month. You can have the other one for free."

I'm like, "Hell yeah. Ship it. That will save me $20. That's $20 more I can spend on drinks." Then he tells me his name is Bradley, that he is a "K" card member, and how he gets almost everything comped at the casino. I'm like, "Wow. So where you staying tonight? Where did they put you up?" He goes on to tell me that the only thing they don't give him is free rooms now because the comps have changed since it became Jack casino and no longer "The Horseshoe."

Anyway, we get onto eating and I start telling the story about how my Grandma Eda always played Double Diamond slot machines and those are the only slot machines I play when I am killing time because it makes me feel good to think about her and remember how happy she'd get when she won, but also how irritated my Papa George would get when she lost even though money was not a worry at all to either of them. I go onto tell him that I was up $160 on a Double Diamond machine just two weeks ago but had to cash out quick because some meth head looking guy came up to me at the machine and kept telling me to push the "credits" button three times then pull the lever and not hit the "spin reels" button to beat the machine. I told Bradley that I decided to cash out instead of maybe like win another $100 and have this loser beg me for money.
Right away Bradley says, "Well. He was telling you right to pull the lever. If you used the strategy he told you and you won big you'd have to give him something." I'm like, "Well I guess if I did exactly what he said I would throw him $20 or something." Bradley replied, "$20 off another $100 win or like $20 off a $5,000 win?" I'm like, "$20 off a thousand or more. Or maybe nothing." Bradley started to look offended and was like, "That's cheap. If he helped you win he helped you win."

So, I start thinking, "Wow. This Bradley guy is one of those degens. How in the hell did he get the biggest shooting highest class comp card? He must be a huge slot machine degen!" And then I ask, "Well. What exactly brings you here tonight?" He says, "The slots." I say, "Well. I don't know anything about them. So, I got no advice you can use and there will be no way you're owing me any money for help." And then I pull out $15 in red chips and give it to him for the buffet. He says, "Thanks."

Then a little after as I am cleaning up my side of the table and getting ready to go back to the poker room I say, "You know. I have never met a big time slot machine player here that carries a "K" card. When you come to play the slots what do you usually bring?" Then he says, "Well, tonight I brought $64.00." I'm like, $64.00 and your ATM card right?" He calmly replies, "Nope. Just $64.00. And I live three hours away so I can't go home and grab any more money. But, it doesn't matter anyway. I don't get paid until Friday. I just came today with the $64.00 because when you feel it, you feel it, and today I felt it. So, I took the drive." And that's the last I heard from Bradley besides exchanging goodbyes after the dinner buffet.

$64 plus 15 he got selling a comp buffet. Wonder how often he does that.

30 minutes ago, I was slightly drunk and joined a roulette table with 10$, ran it up to 150$, and then lost it all.

I then proceeded to deposit my entire roll (150$) and also lost it, then also deposited the rest of my life roll for this month (100$) and also lost it.

I feel like dying.

Never playing roulette or drinking ever again.

the guy has been itching to play this tournament at a local casino (the buyin is like 300$ which is a lot to this guy)

the guy also lost 1000$ the week prior (to him this is like one of us losing 10k) as he is broke and doesnt work

he takes an uber to the casino with 22$ in his pocket (he told me he was feeling it and keep in mind the casino is like an hour away)

he hits a dragon which pays 40-1 uses that money to buy in to the tourney busts out calls me to tell me he is learning a new game Pan 9

calls me an hour later all excited and spams me stupid memes through text
told me he had 20 $ on some bonus in pan 9 which pays 100-1

he ends up leaving the casino with 3000$ from 22$ in less than a day

(you guys can obviously guess what happens to the money over the course of the week)

I don't know why you are so hell-bent on this notion that I am lying about my income. I'm also unsure why I seem to care that you think I am lying. I have much bigger problems in my life..and they are much bigger than the salary I make. Do you make $12 an hour or something? Because ask anyone who makes what I make..it's not a LOT of money especially when you have a massive gambling problems. Some make way more and still feel it's not enough. I'm sure there are some degens who make $250k a year but are on the verge of suicide because of gambling. It's all relative. You make $100 a month..you can ruin yourself by gambling $500 a month. You make $7k a month..well you can ruin yourself by gambling $12k a month. You think I can roll out $250 6 gamers and dump thousands of dollars in my betting account with an $8500 income? Oh but I assume I am exaggerating my losses too..because it feels so cool to be a complete idiot in life.

Man in this thread of all places too..to accuse someone. Some of us are really ****ed up..and come here to laugh about our pain. Get a grip dude.



***Side Note guys..D-Day where I need 12kish for this month has arrived. I have made no progress and have used up other people's credit cards. I am in deep ****. Today I did multiple parlays..1 after the other. I think I went 1/6..1/5..2/4. Not even close. I think I am picking around 20% the last week. Will update as to how I get out of this mess. Just applied for a $15k LOC which will probably be denied.

That is exactly why you should use some kind of safety net. Trust me, I have gambled for 15+ years and have won/lost insane amounts. One of them 10 years ago almost cost me my life. Right now my wife and her account is my/our safety net. All our savings and net worth are locked into her account that I do not have access to (although we obviously decide together what it is invested into )

What I am saying is, much easier to gamble and win/lose when you do not have to worry at all what you will eat for the next week or next month or how you will pay your debts.

12k might seem a lot now, especially on the day you will have to pay it back, but there is always a way out. If you really are that deep in debt I would suggest to clear it any ways possible and start over. You can always start over.

Basically Snipes needs to just self-ban from gambling at all for 1 year. Work his ass off and with his 85k salary he should be able to cover his losses. In the end all this chasing is gonna crush him.

I once knew a loser in a clown mask who tried to steal a Rolex sign from an exterior shop wall. I got away as quickly as possible. The same idiot nearly also lost his entire BR in one night playing 5-10 ( about 15K he was a pro or kidded himself he was one) and stayed up over 48 hours in the casino trying to spot tells from roulette dealers. Nothing worked so he left broke and I met him there and drove him back to my place so he didn't come to harm.

The entire journey back he babbled in a delirious way about following cars that look like they were driven by drug dealers in the hope that one might throw his cash/stash out of the window thinking we were police. Yes his favourite TV show was the Sopranos. We were stuck behind a nice customised SUV which I had discreetly tailed just to keep my friend in the clown mask happy. I was really hoping that the 3 guys in the vehicle just looked like drug dealers and we were racial profiling. I mean they could have been rappers or athletes ( one was fat though) even lawyers or doctors who just had mean looks and killer eyes and jewlrey and tattoos. The heavyset guy sitting in the back did dump some green out of the window. A big green ball of catarrh that hit my friends hand. I took the next turn as he moaned about me being a quitter.

Snipes you are young. You are well paid for your age and for all ages. You have a nice family and a nice girlfriend. You have everything going for you except for parlays. The debt you will be able to handle but my friend if you keep up this degen loser behaviour you could lose your job. The stress will cause insomnia and you will turn up to work like a zombie on Valium....If you lose the job you will probably lose your gf. Then you will get depressed and feel like a big loser and after a year of no work you could become unemployable.....If you win one bet today you will lose a load in the coming weeks. Stick to poker. Read, study and work out a plan to pay off the debt. Enjoy a nice meal. Don't play poker to earn fast money. Play to play well. That concept took me years to learn and I'm still not learning it fast enough lol.

In other words your good job and nice family and gf are your safety cord. You even live with your parents! You might not have a perfect landing. But you will survive without major injuries.

I appreciate the reality check, you are absolutely right. I have already been slacking at work the past month or so..and before that I was on vacation for 2 weeks because my best friend got married. Basically I have been an unproductive monkey for the last 6 weeks. And it is an absolute domino effect..the job goes..the gf could go..etc.

12k seems a lot now and it is but I get it. I used to think $600 was a lot when I was in my first initial credit card debt. It's all relative..and that is what I am afraid of. This number can eventually be 100k easily..200k and so on. I am searching for ways to clear the debt I just don't know how. I have asked everyone I know for money..taken advances at work and my credit score is 604 which is not good enough for anything really.
