Hi
Your assumption is correct

Obviously, the game has changed and players are a lot better, but I think I can get a fairly solid hourly. I wish you luck in the future.
The amount they charge depends on several factors. Some want just a lump sum at the beginning. Others charge you some initial amount + some % of your first year's salary. The amount you could pay in that sense is not fixed then. You can safely expect to pay a minimum of $10,000.
Their low acceptance rate has nothing to do with them only accepting the best of the best. It's a combination of very limited amount of spots and a large amount of applications.
I think most people won't put in any work beforehand or very little at least. For me, this is an "all or nothing" kind of thing so I can't really leave it up to chance to fail.
In regards to your sharkscope score, I don't think that number really means anything tbh. If you look at a solid, low stakes player and compare his rating to a high stakes fish, the high stakes fish will always have a higher rating.
Fwiw, i have an ability rating of 87 in the $60 hu plo8 sngs. In comparison, tatta who is the biggest winner overall in that game has an ability rating of 91. When I filter only for $100s/$200s, my winrate drops significantly while my abilty rating increases a point. I think the formula for determining that # is skewed heavily towards the buy-in.
