Brief outline - After having studied a fair bit in short bursts, but never taken bankroll seriously or respected the grind, I decided to start playing again. A few months after starting the microstakes grind online, and playing some live cash games, I was traveling in Southeast Asia. A friend was going to play some Asian Poker Tour Macau events, so I decided to go along and take a shot or two (knowing I was only able to play a couple tourneys, and nowhere near rolled for them). $3,300 HKD buyin (around $550 CDN) APT Macau Welcome Event.
A few hours in, I am a bit ahead of the average, playing decently against the field. Nobody is ridiculously ahead, with a pretty tight spread of chip stacks. I get dealt pocket kings in the small blind, and end up getting all my money in on the flop, against a two-outer. Spoiler - I lose and end up busting from my first outing with the worst individual bad beat of the tournament (rarely gets worse than a two-outer being hit after post-flop shoves).
