I was honestly stunned to see the quality of play, at something of a serious set of tournaments with reasonable sized buyins (ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand USD). I had been a bit intimated before going, and had no idea what to expect from the local/serious live asian pros and couple westerners that dragged ass over there. There were a few other truly absurd plays during this, and another event. Honestly the quality of play in these tourneys was comparable (if not worse) to $10 buyin MTTs on stars...

Yup. Tournament variance is the sickest, though.

No money in poker. Asian casino tourists solid.

Actually, most of the asian players (even the ones that were not obvious fish) were bad regs at best. A couple were solid, and the majority of the westerners were also. The poker there is dead for another reason - High stakes Bacaraat has taken over every damn casino there over the past couple years. The poker scene in Macau legit dried up and died almost completely in the span of 2 years (the two right before I got there, unfortunately)!

Players were solid when I went over there OP, maybe you got a soft table. Also they won the monies and you didn't so they must be better then you.

I'll gladly ride the variance wave, if there is as much dead money in live tournaments as there seems to be!

Yeah, not cashing = being outplayed for sure - because we all know tiny sample results are clearly indicative of skill! You did see that hand I busted on, right? There was a lot of that quality of play going on. Donks shoving KQ preflop when 30+ big blinds deep, 5bet shoves with low pocket pairs, saw flops folded on SPR lower than 1.... Which tournaments did you play that were solid in the 2018 APT schedule?

If you were over there, and encountered solid play, maybe it was before the mass exodus of solid players over 2016/2017. I can't imagine otherwise. Not only the tourneys I played, (and a couple a friend played that I didn't) but the cash games at the lower ends of limits were also quite bad. Maybe some good players are left at the nosebleeds, but outside of that, the poker there is now super soft.

I am hoping the play is similar quality at the other APT stops. I didn't care for Macau, as it was incredibly overpriced and not at all tourist-friendly. Next year I hope to play some events in Vietnam. Depending on how the cash tables are there, I might stick around a couple months.

Haven’t read comments yet , only the HH, but surely we can find a fold on the river?

Sometimes KK no good!

Just curious OP, what do you think you are beating on the river? Clear fold imo.

That's a really bad call on the flop after he shoves. His range there is exactly AA, 99, 33, A9, K9, Q9, J9 T9 98, 97, 96, 95, 94, 93, 92 and 43ss.

You are only beating 43ss.

Fold pre. Ap bet/fold river. Asian villians are rarely bluffing rivers. Especially in the APT. Also BRM is key. $%^& you OP.

Fold pre. 2nd best hand in the game means it loses to one other hand.

this thread is a ****ing dumpster fire.

OP why didn't you check/fold river? Clearly a shove is the wrong play.

OP dont be results oriented. The 43ss was winning the low end so you were chopping at best.

Grunge: IMO it's a clear fold OTR. It's just not worth the risk when you have kids at home to take spots like this when he could have a tre.
