Don't most hotels now have 30"+ flat screens that you could hook up to? As opposed to lugging that monstrosity around?

i do alot of international traveling with a 30" also.

aren't you getting hosed on airline charges? do you fly with any particular airlines which are more accepting of a lot of luggage?

I put it in one half of this (the 82cm version)

Problem is the 30" is 12kg even without the stand so you really can't take much else with you, i send most of my clothes and stuff onwards via DHL (huge pain in the arse)

Not to mention if customs decide to check your suitcase when you land you could be paying anything up to $700 in import taxes

Wow it's only 12.5kg? I thought it would be a lot more than that, shipping weight is like 25kg - that's a lot of cords and cardboard. But yeah still, that's not a lot of other stuff - after the suitcase 10kg wouldn't go very far.

FWIW I'm considering getting he Apple LED Cinema display which weigh's only 9.5kg and is very trim for travelling purposes. 1920x1200 is a bit of a compromise but still not too bad, especially with a 17" MBP screen beside it.

not exactly sure what the stand ways but it ain't light. That receipt thing only works when you are entering the country of purchase (whenever i go back to the UK)

is that screen 30" or is it smaller?. IMO it's not really worth travelling with anything smaller than a 30" as even in places like thailand it's not too difficult to pick up inexpensive 24" screen. Once you add in the hassle of customs and generally carrying the thing around it's not really worth it as you can just buy a new one wherever you go next.

I agree with one of the posts above, a projector in a carry case is a much better option then carrying around a freakin tv with you. A projector is smaller then a 360 and produce a even bigger picture and many walls, much more convenient imo.
