Lost the money, lost friends. I'm an idiot for lending money. One hasn't quite disappeared yet but keeps on lingering and making micro payments, like $40 on a $600 balance. I ask him to give me a date on when he'll pay me all in full (it has been 8 months already). His response is: "I'll try to get you something by the end of the month". Notice the words? "I'll try". "Something". This means I will definitely not get my money for at least another month. What is my move at this point in time?

Can anyone relate?

The same thing happened to me with 4 of my "friends".

They owe me over 10k, and I probably won't ever see any of that money.

It was my fault for being naive at the time. I'm never lending money to anyone ever again (not even my family).

Not lending money is the way to go, especially friends. The amounts in question are $300-500. Hardly anything close to worth losing a friend for. If you take into account the intangibles (driving friends to casino, helping each other with a girl, bringing an Airbnb customer or the hundreds we spend on drinks, going out, road trips etc), the amounts become negligeable.

One of the friends I've seen routinely cashout $5-10K at the high rollers room or 5/10 NL. Really boggles my mind on how someone can sleep at night knowing they stole money.

The friend thing was obviously a setup. MTT should have known that if somebody is acting like his friend, it's just the groundwork for a future scam.
