Cliff notes at end:

My name is ChipUniter on stars, I've lurked 2+2 on and off for a bit but never posted, figured this might be interesting. I'm sure some of you have seen me play there, I've played mostly pot limit omaha recently with some heads up no limit thrown here and there, mostly at 25/50 and 100/200.

Brag: had over 300k
Beat: now I do not
Variance: accounts for most of it, but I did take risks, some aggressive shots, and most importantly, did not move down at appropriate times.

Well, my main shot at 1/2 ended up going poorly, had some sick swings in there, but the net result was large losses against some good heads up no limit players, decent profits against good plo players, and significant losses against weaker plo players. As my bankroll dwindled, I took a few more ill-fated shots to attempt to recover my losses, including this brilliant idea:

A 1 buyin shot at 100/200 with a 1.5 buyin bankroll.
Lost with a 70/30 with a set where the money was bound to go in, standard, just a bit unlucky.

On an interesting note that I doubt many will agree with, I think that the main reason the 1.5 buyin shot was a bad idea was because there would be better future shots to take, I don't think my expectation on the shot itself was otherwise too bad, potentially a bit borderline.

But now, it's time to check in the ego and move down... a lot. A few people have asked me why I've been playing low recently, well, this is why, and I'll be moving down a bit lower still.

Time to grab some lunch, and start the grind. Gotta build back up the right way (of course, I'll probably throw in a few questionable shots for good measure).

Cliffnotes: I play on ChipUniter on stars. I had much money. Now, I have not so much money. Down in stakes I go. Back up I shall climb.

I can relate.
Losing a 70/30 for a huge chunk of your roll must have been devestating.
Just don't lose sight of the value of $$$.
*instead of taking a shot at a stake that's going to devestate you if you lose, go buy a 60" 1080P and Bose Home Theater or something.
Money can be better spent.

If you don't mind, care to share what you had in this hand?:

$100/200 HU vs Zugwat

Lower flush? 66, or 76/65/64/63? Aces up / set, ie tilted river call?

Anyway, gl climbing back up. What's the plan with regard to bankroll management & game selection?

The pokertableratings graph doesn't include plo, where I had a few large up and down swings, but yeah, the nlhe downswing did the most damage.

I didn't really ever tilt, but when I was playing against zugwat at nlhe I made some very thin plays that probably weren't good against his style. Losing 10 or so buyins in a tough heads up game can happen fairly often, i just happened to lose about 80% of the time or more that all the money went in. There was only one hand where I think how I was running and the damage to my bankroll affected my play, I felt like I kept losing all the time when the stacks went in and my bankroll was hurting, so I didn't make a call I should have been able to think through when playing nutsinho.

I may have made my hand a bit obvious in this hand, and looking back at it, my thoughts on the river-call were wrong. I had 36 diamonds, but I might make that turn bet with a few different types of hands. I was originally thinking that he wouldn't raise the river without the king high flush, but in that spot, my turn bet might not make much sense with a high flush draw, and in fact, would more likely be a lower flush draw wanting to bet a higher one out of the pot. Given this, I think my betsizing on the river was good, but I should have folded unless I had a read he was doing something tricky.

/strat in bbv? Thought people disliked that or something
