The casino I usually play at has a BBJ where qualifying hand is quads 6666 or better beat. I mainly play at this casino and rarely go to the other ones in town.

Today, I decided to go to the other casino because a friend wanted to go.

I’m playing 1-3. Co raises to 12, button calls, sb calls. I look down at 22 and call aswell.

Flop. 229r

Great i flopped quads, I check. CO bets 25. Button calls, sb folds and i call.

Turn 9. And checks through.

River A. I bet out 50 with 200 left, CO tank calls. Button hollywood and minraises to 100. Great, he has a 9, im all in. CO folds

Button snap calls and flip over 99 before i flip over my hand.

So ****ing sick I said, ****ing cooler quad over quads and i don’t even qualify for a ****ing jackpot, I flash my quads and throw them into the muck tilted as ****.
The dealer tries to catch my cards but couldn’t before they hit the muck.

I asked him wtf r u doing? He says its a bad beat jackpot, im like what?? He says our casino bbj is quad 22 beat for 50k. I am excited screaming yes! Floor comes over and says my hand is dead because it hit the muck. Everyone is sad, i feel like dog **** and instantly rage leave the casino, i backed my car into another car while raged as ****. Lost another -2k for car expenses and insurance went up.

So instead of winnning like 20k i lost the pot, -2k, and my insurance went up. Im ****ed for life and hate poker now

Legit beat OP. Probably the worst I've read in years. I feel worst for the other players at the table.

There is a lesson to be learned here: ALWAYS TABLE YOUR ****ING CARDS. I just don't get what's the big shame or secret.

Not just for jackpot purposes but all other countless instances where opponent may misread and muck a winning hand. Yes it happens more often than you might think.

-I'm playing tight mostly and called a few bets prior to the river. Board has three of a kind. Villain bets and I snap-one-chip call with my AQ high. Villain shrugs and says "meh, fives" and mucks. I don't say a word.

-Another time board is paired on the river and I announce "Two pairs!". Villain mucks (a hand I believe to have had some kind of piece).

-Another time I have AA and ship a wet flop against a partly ******ed fish. Fish says "I missed" as he's about to muck. I don't show right away and stare at his (face down) cards. Villain gives me a "you wanna see? here" look and flips over what turns out to be a backdoor straight. No it was not a slowroll.

-Another time I have the nut flush on a paired board and took a few seconds too many to table my hand where Villain held pocket kings for the full. Villain flashes, flips and someone at the table stops him from mucking saying "you got a full house!" wtf

Show your damn cards people. People misread the board one too many times. All those hands happened at live 2/5 NL games.

There's no taxes on losses OP. You avoided that.

That's what you get for not folding rivers.
Also the current tax haven regime of not taxing losses is surely unsustainable. It's about time we give the billionaires some of our losses

Wow, just wow. How are you playing in a room with a bbj and don't know what qualifies. 4 years ago I folded gutshot sfd to a 3bet on flop and would have hit 163k bbj. Worst beat of my life. I would have got 40% or 65k.

Someone once bet a gutshot sfd and made the underpocket fold. Came running quads for the said folded PP that also gave the bettor the sf. 640k missed out.

I mucked quad 9s in an online tournament. $100 tournament big guarentee. I ended up cashing for a small amount of cash but this opponent was about to give me their stack and I milked the timer til it ran out. I thought I had clicked it at ten seconds to get another 30 but nope.

If I was in an establishment with a known 6666 BBJ qualifier, I would still check with the dealer before mucking 2222. Just sayin....
