I was going to skip reading this and post didn't read but for some strange spiritual reason i did and have to say i know where you are coming from op as i too have been in a simalar situation in my younger days ...
I too was a Prodigal son and i can assure you that if you sell plenty of eggs and repay your father or even if you cant he will hold a feast to celebrate when you return

Let me tell you my story ..... i come from an Irish Catholic family but was born and raised in England
My parents between them have 28 siblings and unfortunatly are well connected and part of the Irish Mafia but thats another story
Anyway as a youngster most summer my parents would send me to stay in Ireland with relatives upto six weeks at a time staying on a farm with all these strange people that to be honest bored the sh't out of me
the highlight of the stay was granny taking me on the a bus to bingo most nights into the nearest town and afterwards meeting my ridiculous large family in a pub for a few beers .
one night after bingo and a few beers at the age of 14 hehe i got chatting to one of my female cousins and told how bored i was staying on the farm and she said she would come over for a couple of weeks to keep me company
she came over and because of lack of space we ended up sharing the caravan on land between relatives cottages ... to cut a long story short before long i was raming the ring off her and got caught out by her father/my uncle who is a notorious gangland criminal who now lives in the costa del sol ..
i was on my toes and found refuge in a barn nearby living off eggs and fresh mushrooms i picked late at night in the fields
i walked 18 miles through field into a town called Athlone and called my dad who said you are no longer welcome back here as you broke family rules ..and he explained that why the F does he think we moved to england ? he also screwed a couisin and had to leave never again being accepted by his stupid mafia family
so i said F*** you then im going back to the barn which i did and stayed for several months before getting caught by my uncle and his henchmen
but i was ready for them and took them out one by one just leaving me and my uncle to do settle this
I kicked him in the balls , got him in a head lock and ask him for the truth or i would break his neck
i ask him if he'd ever screwed a cousin and he admitted broke down in tears and admitted yes he has
after that we sat there eating eggs and drinking whisky and having arm wrestling competitions and he said Mark our family fued is now over and you are a free to leave and are welcome to return to Dublin city anytime as long as you dont ride anymore of my daughters
I returned to England and my father threw a party

This is where I stopped reading.

I stand by my decision. I think it was the right one.
