OK. So
A group is making and selling sundials...Each costs group $2. They are selling 68SD's per week at $16 each. For every $1 increase in the price, the number of sales drops by 2.

How do I find a quadratic formula for this?

I will pay the person that explains this in a way that *I* understand. Thank you all.

U (profit) = (68-2x)(16+x) - (68-2x)(2) where x = increase in price

= number sold(price) - number sold(production)

U = -2x^2 +32x + 952

easy when the tempature reaches 70 degrees, then sundial get turned on making it hot, when it reaches 80 degress it get turned down making it cold again, so if you think its gonna be between 70 and 80 degrees push all in and profit

call the price P.

number of sales = 68 minus 2 for every dollar in price above $16
number of sales = 68 - (P - 16) * 2

profit per sale = P - 2

profit = sales * profit per sale
profit = (68 - 2(P-16) ) * (P-2)
profit = (-2P + 100) * (P-2)
profit = -2P^2 + 104P - 200
