Was it a bad play? Was it a bad play?

Final Table, already in the money, four players left. Friendly online league.
Flop 9Q9, I'm on the button with QJ. SB has only 0.5bb left, BB has 25BB, I have 20BB.
They both check to me and I raise 0.5pot with my top pair. SB obviously calls, BB folds.
9Q97T
SB had 69, wins.

BB, fuming, shows KJ as his gut shot straight would've eliminated SB. Starts ranting about my bad play raising post flop.
As far as I'm concerned, what I should never do is bluff in that situation, as the point is to eliminate SB from table. I didn't bluff.

Raising is tough when there's no bet out. The fact that you were able to do this is a mark of true greatness. We're unworthy of giving you any advice.

I don’t know why you think it’s acceptable to push another stack out of the pot like that. Poor etiquette imo

That league doesn’t sound very friendly.

Your play was fine (except you should have raised the button). If you have nothing in that situation, the unwritten rule (which is technically collusion) is you don’t bluff at a dry side pot when a player is all-in and an elimination let’s you can move up the pay ladder (and even here there are exceptions where it can benefit you to keep a short stack alive or where you might want to isolate the short stack).

This wasn’t a bluff. You are far ahead of both opponents ranges.

You had equity in the hand. You think your opponent would’ve checked back the river? Hell no. You saved yourself money.

Also the rule of BBV (this forum) is no strat allowed, but since you’re new we’ll give you a freebie.
