Bad beats always happening in the most crucial spots of a tournament? Bad beats always happening in the most crucial spots of a tournament?

Y'all might call me dramatic but its actually insane how bad I run when I get to the FT or final 2 tables. Every single time I make it that deep I will get sucked out on in a huge pot. Its normal to take bad beats but in my case its always the same story, always in spots where I would be in good position for that big score. Been playing poker for 5years and I consider myself above average but how am I supost to be profitable when I constantly run deep and finish 9th and ****.

My last 3 final tables that I can remember of all ended the same way, get it in a 90% favorite in a chip lead or top 3 stack pot and boom I get ****ed on the river. It happened so many times that every time I run super deep and get it in a huge fav, part of me knows what's coming.

I make deep runs so ****ing often but these runs always lead to irrelevant scores, finishing 11th in a 2k entries 10-25$ tournament is not enough to make up for all the other tournaments I bust in. I'm extremely good at running deep but cant ever make it past 7-8th place. Feel cursed, busting with Aces happens but why is it always in these big money spots that I grinded 6-8hours for. Just now I bubbled a final table where on the flop I was a 95% favorite.

Anyone else experience something similar where the bad beats are always in crucial spots? I would bet I have as many deep runs as many professional players, yet I cant find that big score and am a small losing player. Its Possible I got work to do on adapting to an FT but one thing I cant change is the bad luck. Over 20 itm percentage on a large sample size yet in years of playing ive never found that deep run that people need to be profitable in MTT.

tournaments are like that. Can't get better at running good, so just focus on your play and a big score will happen. Unless it doesn't. Again, tournaments are like that

Assuming you are just running bad at final tables......

Everything is a bell curve. And each side has its extremes. For every person that's on the far extreme bad side of variance.......there's someone on the exact opposite extreme end. So, there's some dude out there who's binking every time at final tables. And he might actually be a worse poker player than you.

So, if true, you unfortunately are that guy on the extreme wrong side of the curve. That could change, or it may continue. Someone has the be that extreme unfortunately.

It's a frustrating experience; in general, I have many players I work with who go through it. Not necessarily at the final table, but at some particular moment in the game.

I believe that while variance exists and is a fact, the more you believe that variance is against you in those moments, the worse decisions you'll make, and the more frustrated you'll become when reaching the final tables.

The good thing about variance is that it doesn't discriminate against players; it affects everyone equally. The more times you reach the final tables, the more chances you have for variance to eventually work in your favor.

That's why I always recommend continuing to search for leaks in your game, continuing to find ways to improve your performance in final tables until those results appear.

Such curses don't exist; only bad habits or negative beliefs do.

Best regards!

Well done on making the final tables. Some poker players can run so bad in Mtts that they don’t final at all so consider yourself lucky.

Mtt variance can be a real nasty piece of work and as bad as it can be it also can feed in the other direction.

Play well, study more , don’t let the swings affect your game as you’ll find yourself not even getting in those spots where you are 90% fav.

Goodluck and as the poster above me said, if it’s rigged you may have to call the floor.
