Sammy, serious question for you: do you primarily work on wind generation or do you work on alternate forms of renewable generation? Or are you more transmission focused?

One reason i ask is that a particular challenge for me in managing long term financial forecasts for a utility is that the people forecasting power costs all drastically reduced their long term power cost assumptions bc the dispatch cost of renewable generation is essentially zero. My fear is that, while the zero dispatch cost is accurate, that does not reflect the extreme short term volatility based on regional generation capacity which is exasperated by the difficulty in implementing new transmission and distribution resources.

Curious to hear your thoughts if a silly engineer such as yourself can wrap your mind around the financial side of things.
