so I'm playing in my local league game ($50 buyin), and this hand comes up:

I have AJ and raise, one caller. flop comes A, Q, K.
I bet he calls.
Turn is a J. I bet he calls.
river is a 10 to complete the straight, no flush possible.

this is where it gets strange. he goes into the tank, saying stuff like "I think I have the best hand", a couple other guys at the table are laughing and saying "what are you doing", I tell them to shut up, as it's obvious he doesn't see the straight.

he hems and haws for a minute or so and I say "let me decide for you, I go all in...and show him my AJ and he folds. (we don't have the if you show a card it's dead rule).

so was I an angle shooting jerk or is it the other guys fault for not paying enough attention?

You did nothing wrong. One of the skills everyone needs is being able to read the board correctly.

one guy was trying to say that the cards speak meaning the board, but I said that would be true if he had tabled his hand but he folded.

the guy running the tourney just walked away shaking his head.(he was at the table)
