nope...unfortunately not anymore...Games got tougher and tougher.
I was give up with my blitzkrieg and was trying to leave the nitty-FPP-pro fullring tables and jump str8 into the more action PLO-games...
But I failed in Omaha very hard.
I never recover from my omaha-meltdown now...

Are you kidding me? How can you compare real work to the profit of some loser who's just turned his poker balance into positives? Straight out of university, I made about 60k USD a year. Within a year, I made over 80k USD a year. $20 an hour is what 16 year old kids makes for tidying shelves in the supermarket.

And yes, I'm a loser at poker. I've lost about $3k in poker, probably 2k on tilt and 1k on undisciplined play. This over the last 3 years. Poker is just a hobby. It's fun. I have no regrets paying this little for that much fun. I'm considering starting winning, though. It's just that it's a lot more fun playing mid- and high-stakes than micro and low. And obviously I'm not good enough to be a longrun winner in >midstakes.

Bottom line; some actually plays poker for fun. I don't expect anything else than a steady losing curve, but if I suddenly saw myself make $20/hr playing, that would be awesome. Definately nothing wrong with that.

Well, the least I have ever heard someone want to work for, was 90 NOK per hour, which was a 15 year old in a nearby grocery store. 90 NOK is like $14.50 or something. Everyone I know, makes at least 130NOK/hr working in supermarkets or pizza restaurants etc. 130NOK/hr is pretty std for normal work like that. With overtime you could be reaching over 200NOK/hr, and if you work christmas etc you could certainly be making over 300NOK/hr if you're working at the right shop (~$50/hr). I think 1 USD = 6,5 NOK or something like that now. Are the differences really that big between Norway and ... the US? If I came out of University with my M.Sc. and all the work I could get was something comparable to $20/hr, I would be so damn pissed. That would've been 5 study years wasted imo. Luckily it wasn't.

It's not the legal minimum wage, but really, that's standard as hell, at least if you're of age (18+). I'll try to look up the legal minimum wage.

hey way to compare two different economies with 2 different tax philosophies and 2 different everything. $20 an hour may be minimum in scandinavian countries because its a completely different situation than america. im not even going to pretend to know much about the way the government taxes income/the market prices of goods and services there, but then neither should you about north america. in the US minimum wage is like $5, in canada it changes by province but was $6.50 but now getting raised because people realize how terrible it is to have a person work full time and not even be able to afford to rent a crappy apartment.

just because your currency is valued at 6x or w/e the USD doesnt mean that the transfer is that simple.

Dude, you cannot compare Norway with US talking about wages. You just cannot. It's just wrong on so many levels

Cragoo: We live in Norway, we got oil also called the black gold. Also famous for being the best country in the world.

However we pay much more for every thing...

Cars for example:

BMW X6: 1.7 million NOK ~ 270KUSD

Houses and food is also just hilarious expensive to live here, so its a two edged sword and also a silly discussion tbh.
There is a minimum of what you can earn when you are over 18 years and that is something like 20$ per hour I don't know the exact number because I'm not in that category but there is a legalized minimum somewhere near 20$.
