1/3 live. Consistently winning about 8-10 bbs per hour this calendar year (January through to May), although I had a few small to medium downswings. Was on an all-time high bankroll less than 2 weeks ago. Most sessions are 4-5 hours in duration.

In the past nine sessions, I have lost 11 buyins, more than half my calendar year profit.

- didn't flop a set in these nine sessions
- lost flush on flush
- lost when villains called a reraise with quarter of their stack and hit a small set when I had QQ+
- value owned when passively called down and tried to value bet
- lack of barrelling opportunities
- most of all, money was lost trying to isolate maniacs on right - invariably what would happen is that I would miss the board and eventually be pushed off the pot. Maniac never folds to cbet, and even floats OOP and donkshoves turn.



Any suggestions? Especially in how to manage maniacs?

11 BI downswings are pretty standard/not threadworthy.

But it sounds like you should move up to where they respect your raises.

Scott7x: I do not yet have the bankroll to move up. I believe that I am +EV at 2/5 NL live, at least on a weekends, but I take a very conservative approach to bankroll management.

A 11-BI downswing in itself is not necessarily rant-worthy. But for it to have occurred in such a short time, for me, is unprecedented. Right now I don't feel like I will ever win another session.

I wanted to add, that as of two weeks ago, I was within about ten buyins of attaining enough profit to take a shot at 2/5 on Friday and Saturday nights, buying in for 80bbs. As it stands, I have lost eleven buyins and cannot see this ever occurring. It seems that I am just born to get sucked out on/lose.

If you think 11BI is a tough downswing try playing PLO.

33 lost buyins in that amount of sessions would be more severe. Are you persevering? Today I was down 2 buy-ins and checked out up $50 in 1/2. Stay patient after the first lost buy-in.

isolate maniacs is a high variance line. just 3bet maniacs with premiums and high cards.
set minning only in limped pots or cheap raises etc. You need to have range advantage vs maniacs otherwise ure loosing money
