I have a recollection of this rule from over 20 years ago. Can anyone clarify?
$5-$10 limit Omaha game with a half kill to $8-$16. Three players after the turn.
River comes out, it goes check, check, all in for $4, now the first player that checked, makes it $16. Is that allowed?

Can you cite a rule on this?

Thanks!

No you can’t raise, you can’t complete, you can only call. A bet in limit is considered half or more of the full bet.

In the TDA 2019 ruleset this is 47B: “In limit, at least 50% of a full bet or raise is required to reopen betting for players who have already acted.”

If instead it was the first player to act and they went all in for $4, the next player’s option would be to fold, call $4, or complete to $16.

The reasoning is that if a player checks, they have acted. In order to act again, they have to be facing a bet. Less than half a full bet is not considered a bet, it’s considered “action.”

Thank you for the response. I knew I would get an answer from at least one of the veteran's in this Limit forum.

You quoted the TDA rules. Would you assume they apply in cash games in most U.S. casinos?

Thanks again!

If the rule is different in the casino you’re playing in, I would find another casino. This rule should be standard.
