Since my last thread inspired so much good debate (debatable) I thought j would post another close spot.

This is a very difficult spot because currently it is a small pot so you want to get some more in there, but if you raise, you make it a big pot so in hindsight it would have been incorrect to raise, since now it is a big pot and you have initiative that you don't want since when you bet the flop the first limper is now less likely to raise a gutshot with undercards and give you a 5% increased chance of winning the pot when someone folds middle pair for two bets.

Really tough spot though, so many on here play so well I am eager to learn from the opinions.

Most games I've played in with 8 limpers feature players who are more likely--not less likely--to fold when the pot has beem swelled by a preflop raiser.

(Hi LMD. Hope all is well, all good here.)

You should check and lead out on any flop without an A or a K. If raised on flop, call and donk any non A or K turn.

Is it really that obvious of a check. Smaller stakes games are likely looser so I'm even more inclined to check there but I'm mkre interested in mkd stakes games

Raise preflop and check/3-bet the flop.

You can either say, "raise", or just put the chips out in front of you. Each is valid.

This seems like a fistpump raise. What am I missing here?

It was an ironic OP, complete with rushed misspellings. Surprised the thread hasn't been locked.

Well a noted poker author did post an article written by another noted poker author that seemed to advocate checking in this spot. Seems reasonable to let one of them respond.

I've seen advice to check here given by more than one poker author. Barry Tannenbaum is deceased so can't reply here though. Regardless, as I explained, it is certainly true that snark was the point of the OP.

Welcome back from your vacation!
This scenario was mentioned in the other preflop spot thread but Mason didn't respond, so dead..money made a new thread.

Checking QQ is horrible. We can debate raising 22 or 67s though.

Rob, the thread was not ironic (whatever that implies) and I resent the implication that I posed this question for any reason other than getting better. Sure I think it's a raise as well but when I'm lead to believe it may be a check by poker authors I figure that topic is worth debating. If there is an area in my game worth improving than certainly I'm open to considering new ideas.

But I don't see how you can possibly suggest to lock a thread because it seems to obvious when the very owner of the site seems to diasgree with you and most everyone else.
I feel like the most likely possibility is I'm being trolled by Mason, and if that's the case then we'll done, I am very impressed. If not I'd genuinely like to discuss the merits of checking QQ here.

Rob. Going forward please try to be more helpful to new players that post questions.

We raise 22 because we get the odds to flop a set. I want to know what to do with QQ

Flopping a set if queens is better than flopping a set of two's.
