river 8c, the blind bets and the caller folds his missed draw and i decide to raise because i am sure my hero call would be no good to like Ks5s or some garbage... he instamucks and i show after much badgering and he digs through the muck and tables 82... lol at the b/f from 82o

this afternoon i was going through my normal routine(playing poker, booking bets, having lunch with a friend) when my roommate called. he asked if i wanted to go the warriors season opener tonight. i was like wtf hell yes. apparently, his boss at lehman vc has season tickets for 4 he uses only about half the time in the 8th row at mid court. awesome game/seats/warriorgirls/free tshirt and calendar/ticket stub that said $195 all for free. one of the guys i went with says he went to 10+ games last season cause his boss didn't want them. GOGO basketball season!

I think there should be a separate strategy content thread, and put this as the main, though I am not meaning all the crap that is here, those should still be on the other thread, called a no-content(-crap) thread.

The most interesting stuff is the "low" content, and only occasionally referring to the strategy thread for some posting or reading if one is on the mood. But most of the interesting and helpful subjects are not strategy posts, and that's what I am usually looking for.

Also, one should change the title when one is posting here, so one knows something about the content(s) without reading them, making this more like the main forum, though the replies won't unfortunately divide further.

my favorite tom story from about 3 months ago: vivian the floorlady opens utg in a highly aggressive chip flying game, tom 3 bets next in, all muck and they go ape post flop headsup and the pot becomes rather large, not really paying attention to what was going on, i see tom drags down the massive pot after flipping up 72, the conversation that ensues

"you 3 bet with that?"
"i wanted to play you heads up"
"with seven deuce?"

Sounds like way too much work for me. So I vote no.

So I got to go to the last 3 innings of Game 5 last night. Some client my dad took to the first 5.5 innings on Monday couldn't make it last night, so he took me. I feel really fortunate/blessed. That was......amazing.

I've never seen any gathering go so nuts. People crowding on top of statues. Girls flashing the crowd in 35 degree weather. People throwing all manner of bottles and cans and spraying each other with all manner of alcohol. Mailboxes, newspaper vending machines, and trashcans overturned and/or set on fire.

I had parked on Broad Street near Callowhill and took the subway down to the stadium to avoid the usual parking lot rush. That's usually a good idea, but last night it was almost disastrous as the car directly in front of mine was overturned. The worst that happened to my car, fortunately, was that someone broke a beer bottle on the back windshield (no cracks in windshield).

In 1993, when Joe Carter hit that home run to defeat the Phillies, I was 11 years old and went to bed crying. I'm 26 now, and I cried when this game ended, but for a much better reason.

This past week's been a rollercoaster for me. I played in probably the best 20 game the Borgata has ever seen on Monday afternoon and lost a total of $1300 in six hours after I was up $600 in the first two hands I played. Every hand I had just got cracked over and over again. 5 players seeing a flop for 3 bets wasn't out of the ordinary. I played about as solid as I could, and avoided tilting. Then on Tuesday, I played in a good game at the Taj and made $1400 in eight hours, only to be caught in a great game AGAIN on Wednesday afternoon at the Borgata and dumping $1500 in THREE HOURS!! Again, I feel like I played really well and had no regrets (other than being 0-3 with Aces in the session). What is up with the swings though? Is this to be expected in crazy games like this? I'm trying to be a solid player with a solid approach, and those seem like very UNsolid results. My previous 240-some hours were at a $39/hr rate with fairly low volatility. Is this just a blip on the radar? Any words of wisdom on something like this would be appreciated, even though i know the sample size is extremely small?

There is really nothing else to say.

If you play in good games these kind of swings are to be expected. You could have easily been +3 racks twice and -3 racks once, or plus all three times, or god forbid ....

I described a player to captain R today, and I think Tom also fits this bill. They decide if they have the best hand/draw currently at the beginning of a street. If the answer is no, they check and call. If the answer is yes, the bet or check/raise and keep raising until the other person stops. No number of bets will convince them that they were originally incorrect.

yeah, cp and even worse is 8/16 - they dont have fold buttons, wtf was i thinking! and it worked!
10-31-2008 , 12:50 AM
when i first started playing tonight i lost two racks before the first orbit had even ended 8/16... i posted behind the blinds and made two pr and lost to runner, next hand i flop tptk and loose on river, then i flop an underflush in a 7 way pot, then i flop underset... sometimes this game is meh

the entire night i was down and loosing - i announce last round and proceed to gas it up every hand with ATC and keep the foot on the gas the entire hand and for one reason or another do not get called on any river when i triple barrel and end up winning 2 racks at 15/30 the last round and leave a winner for the night

ship the monkey tilt payoff push

Once is a forgivable typo, twice is mega monkey tilt-inducing furor.

I'm off to take out my frustrations (at our nation's horrible spellers) on the dance floors of Los Angeles tonight. At what point will I be too old to go clubbing... 4 years ago?

What are YOU complaining about? I'm too old to go to strip clubs.

wow pj u left a little too soon last night, the craziest 60 game ever. 4 bets 6 way action. the man known as mr 52 suited. I dont think there was a pot less than 2 racks for a hour an a half.

Would I have gotten into it? I was next to last on the must move list; I think there were two ahead of me?

Also, re: clubbing tonight

[x] good decision
