2+2 user tip!

Look at the bottom right of every post. There are three buttons. The left one says Quote, the second one is an icon with paper and the third one is an icon with a pencil. If you click on the middle one with paper, it turns from green to red. This 'marks' the post as something you want to quote and reply to later on when you get a chance. Keep reading more posts, and click on that button for each one that you want to say something about.

Then when you get to the end of reading, and want to finally post about everything, click on the Post Reply button at the bottom left of the end of the thread. It will take you to your regular posting screen, but now every post that you clicked will be quoted and separated within the body of the message window. And you can reply to each thing there and do it all in one glorious post! Problem solved!
wow >6 yrs posting on this site and i never knew this existed. next time there are a lot of stupid posts in a row where i feel the need to ridicule the posters i will know what to do.

Post for 6 years and argue a lot in OOT about Mad Men and participate in Sporting Events drafts like Hollywood Dynasty and TV networks.

There's no denying or arguing that.

I dunno, there was a good conversation about how the show relates to modern day issues, and I was arguing about its relevance when someone else was saying the show is all who-cares because nobody acts like that anymore 50 years later.

Actually I'll look for my post and quote it. It was one of the rare times I sounded like I knew what I was talking about.

EDIT:

Quote:
It's amazing to me that people are so dense and narrow-minded as to think the show is all "now we know better" idealizing, pointing out how misogynist and unhealthy we all were back in the '50s and early '60s. That couldn't be further from the truth. The show is looking back at a different period so audiences can get a distant perspective on American society, but it's really exploring a lot of current issues. It may not be as much of a man's world anymore, but there is still a great deal of truth to the fact that the American male has these conflicting desires that cause so much of his torment, and that women are paying the price for this. I see this daily in 2009.

It's also about the era of consumerism, and there's a distinct message about Draper's job and his instincts to cover up his past and his alternate desires. The point is that there is an American dream sold to the middle class through vacuum cleaners, Windex, and cigarettes, somehow making us think that the void we feel in our souls and the lack of success we've had in achieving the ultimate happiness our society promises can somehow be filled by buying products to cure problems we don't actually have. You see this theme over and over when Don pitches campaigns to execs. "Want to be your own man? Want to stake claim to that house and your manhood? Then buy this deodorant." It's no coincidence that Don has chosen this job as a means to ignore his past, his half-brother, etc.

The show actually has something in common with "Requiem For a Dream," exploring the ways in which we use either addiction or self-delusion or consumerism to fill a hole that shouldn't be there, but is there because of a lie we've been sold.

Of course it's not just Don experiencing this existential pain. Betty Draper's s1 arc is pretty awesome in this regard. Anyway I could go on but those of you who love the show know what I'm talking about. The point is that the criticisms that a) it's a 'now we know better' thing; and b) the advertising industry could be any number of jobs, it doesn't matter as long as they have suits and secretaries... those are both completely missing the point and are criticisms of someone who hasn't been paying attention.

I finally installed the trial version of PT3 and figured out a little bit how to use it. I've got to say that the HUD is incredibly annoying. But, no matter, I'm never playing another hand of online LHE. I am the king of the 2 and 3 outer, I give up, I can't take it anymore. IMR, ahhhhhhh..........., nm.

Edit: I'm up over $400 at Razz since I posted this, 5 minutes. I know I'm tempting fate but so what.

Edit: $500, **** me for ever playing HE.

dont think happy hour ftp multiplier works for clearing bonuses; you still only get 0.06c (instead of 0.12) cleared for every $1 in rake.

How bad is my play in this hand? Is there any player type you would take this line with?

15/30 at Bellagio. I raise JJ in EP, older Guy three bets in MP. LP cold calls. BB calls I call.

Flop is TT4

Ck, I ck, bet, call, call, I call.

Turn is 8.

Ck, ck, bet, call, fold, I fold.

Yes, but it would be such a player-specific read that I wouldnt worry about asking here.
03-16-2010 , 11:28 PM

He would have 40,000 if he didn't multi-quote.

The first time you said this way back when, I thought you were serious and it made me feel good. Now I feel like you're leveling me...

I kept trying to use it to quote something where someone quoted someone else in their post and it never worked so I just gave up on that button.

i wish there was an easier way to do that instead of having to copy/paste. is there pj?
03-17-2010 , 02:16 AM
wow you guys fail so hard. i just don't do it cause I didn't think the use case was to make 4 responses in one post. i have used it though to like show how humor arises when two things that one person said separately are put next to each other, or juxtaposed as it were (i think).

Seriously, me too. I always wondered how people did that. Not that multi-quoting is really a concern for me, given my posting frequency.
