I've 'cursed' myself a few times here for repeatedly lending to a player who I knew was unlikely to repay. I'm not claiming sainthood but it's only in times of trouble when you find out who your friends are. I hope things get better for you.

I see my cardiologist tomorrow, no joke, and I'm fairly certain he will clear me for unlimited scantily clad women. Can't wait to see the look on his face when I ask.

I dunno, my friend. I've never done that moderation thingy very well. Excess seems more to my liking. That said, the vision of my having to do CPR on HB before the ambulance gets there would likely taint the memory of an otherwise enjoyable evening.

Not to change the subject, but I'm wondering if we could get a progress report from boc. Pix would a bonus, too. Maybe even let the forum vote for their favorite "scantily clad waitress." Top two vote-getters getting the job sound about right?

Call me cynical, but I'm guessin' that he'll clear you for this only if he can be in attendance. I mean that's what I'd do... speaking professionally, of course.

Would you believe that I am posting while waiting for the urologist to come in while I'm in a position that most of you can hardly imagine? I'm petrified but the prospect of a future delight is pleasantly distracting.

doc, I don't think pic taking is allowed in those places.

Lastly, I've taken a couple pics of my current sitiation which I'll try to post if the forum votes to be grossed out.

What places?

It's not like I'm asking boc to find a couple of waitresses from In and Out Burger that are willing to serve dinner to a cadre of poker degens. All he's gotta do is find a duet of super hot, early 20s, busty strippers that wanna give you a heart attack. I mean how hard can that be?

boc-

I told you HB was gonna be difficult to please, so just show his ass what you're made of. I have every confidence in you.

thank you to all who wish well. it should be known that there is no one to blame for my current plight other than myself. yes, i expected to see more support from those who have been close to me and that i've helped in the past. but they didn't put me where i am. it wasn't bad luck. no one took more out of the bellagio high limit games than i did this fall. but none of it could keep pace with my degeneracy. every decision that led to me being broke was my own, and not the effect of others or a turn of a card. at least not a poker card.

boc - i still feel like i owe you a lot from our bender vacation. it was always my intention to take care of everything the next time you were in town looking for a good time. sorry you never made it in when i too was balling out of control. someday soon i hope. i've never had difficulty identifying my faults. and it's not my first time being out of action. my actual life scenario has never been as bleak, but i've certainly had to be in a grind before. but for me to accept my currect situation as my destiny is not something i'm going to accept. whether i can curb my addiction to gambling when i come out the other side remains to be seen, but your words are an assist in the obvious eye opening i need to do. they mean a lot.

jesse - please don't think that because i've messed up on a bunch money management decisions outside of poker that you yourself are doomed to failure in a purposeless life. remember that i never would've been in position to help the people i'm angry at now without crushing my way to lots of cash. very few people are going to get their fulfillment from their job. it's not an indictment. put in the effort to play better, crush, and use your time and resources to do what only you know will fulfill you. all signs point to you being a good guy, thanks for being there for a somewhat stranger.

RRRRRRR - i'm not a good guy and a good player. i'm a great guy and great player. haha. but see above as i am obviously with fault.

howard - i doubt i would change much about my lending in the past if i could do it over again. a lot fewer of my loans are to poker players than you may expect. i've never cared about money aside from when i didn't have any. it was always just a vehicle to things that i may or may not get to do or have. as i've said before on this board, the act of bring someone that you care about up through their hard times and into the good times with you is invaluably rewarding. if money is the means to that end, so be it. when i had hundreds of thousands i wasted more than can be admitted being as indulgent as possible. a friend with need can certainly find better uses than me. but let me echo your sentiment about true friendship. it is very easy to be the friend when times are good and it's all laughs and good times. only in adversity do you find out who really cares for you and is willing to sacrifice. i found this out years ago and was lucky enough to run good in life since then. being reminded of it kinda makes me wonder if i didn't have enough adversity to build character in my current relationships in the mean time.

we could all learn something from bugstud about getting unbusto.

2008 tampa bay devil rays 300-1
2009 super bowl squares for 5 figs
2010 super bowl squares for 5 figs

in all seriousness, you've run bad with regards to ppl. when i've been busto, everyone has been amazingly helpful. i've found everyone quite understanding and patient, even to the point where they have to mask how irritated they are. without the help of lots of pplz, i'd have probably had to get a job by now. instead, i am well on my way back to poker super star.

it's like everything else in gamblers world. a few bad eggs ruin it for everyone else.

I feel bad, bc I have honestly well when it comes to lending/staking. The only times I ever borrowed weren't really borrowing. One was about 4 yrs ago when I was on the worst live run ever at Canterbury and Dave P (brainbannana on 2p2) asked if he could take half my action in a sh game after a 5 rack loss in a loltastic sh game and I accepted. The next time was when I graduated law school around the same time and vmacosta needed a roommate and asked me move to the bay area and offered me 5k payable within yr w/o interest.
The only people I've lent to have paid me back in a reasonable time frame (usually when I am whining bout running bad.) I would like t think that people would steak me if I ever got broke, which I came dangerously close too a couple months ago. This kind of why I I've stressed the importance of becoming competent online. I feel lune it's real hard to go broke online if you are competent. Rb, less rake, the fact that you don't always have loose cash to piss away and 0 tipping.
03-04-2010 , 10:16 PM
i dont recommend staking as a viable option to getting back on your feet. ive been there and it doesnt work. you feel terrible when you lose that you let your backer down. and when you win its not that great either since youre not winning as much as if you were on your own. online with rakeback really is the answer but you really need the discipline to put in a large volume of hands and be willing to play limits much smaller than what you would like to play.

Holy mother of cow! Second hand at the table.

Villain is MP. I called him the Spewminator. The hands after this one looked like he had a prop bet on who could felt themselves the fastest.

Poker Stars $0.25/$0.50 Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

Pre Flop: (1.4 SB) Hero is SB with 3 A
1 fold, MP calls, CO raises, BTN 3-bets, Hero calls, BB calls, MP caps!, CO calls, BTN calls, Hero calls, BB calls

Flop: (20 SB) K 9 5 (5 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP bets, CO raises, BTN 3-bets, Hero caps!, BB calls, MP calls, CO calls, BTN calls

Turn: (20 BB) 8 (5 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, MP 3-bets, CO folds, BTN folds, Hero caps!, BB calls, MP calls

River: (32 BB) 6 (3 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, MP 3-bets, Hero caps!, BB calls, MP calls

Final Pot: 44 BB
Hero shows 3 A (a flush, Ace high)
BB mucks J T
MP mucks A 8
Hero wins 43.2 BB
(Rake: $0.40)

This table was weird all the time I played it tonight, like it was one penny/two penny. Stuff like slowplaying AJ suited when an ace flops.

One thing I can say for Tunica is that the service is unparralled. They take care of their poker players. The regs are old but hilarious. Ofc every joke is funnier w a southern accent.

you got me there, I sure do love the giraffes. And once I got to watch an immobile, sleeping panda.

btw, did you know that the giraffe has the biggest heart of any land animal? It needs it to get the blood up its neck.

Did you know that the blue whale is the largest animal that ever existed?

I've been sayin' the same thing about Tunica since I joined these boards. LHE game selction isn't great, but that's the only shortcoming. All food (including food at the table), drink and alcohol are free. Games are super friendly and d-bag free.

Mitch is also right about the regs being really funny. I posted an abridged TR from Tunica last year in which I recounted a great one-liner I heard at the table. Sandy, one of the older regs that Mitch has met, has a buddy that also plays in the game. When I joined the game one afternoon, it was apparent that Sandy's pal had not been doing well and was buying yet another rack. In the course of about an hour, he got a flopped set of aces cracked, his queens got run down by a pair of fours rivering a set on a mostly paint board and lost another couple of hands to two or three outers. He didn't utter a complaint or gripe the whole time.

Finally, after losing to the final suckout, Sandy looks at him and says, "Just not your day, is it?"

Without missing a beat, the 70ish year old guy replies, "Sandy, if I was fuqqin' a fat girl today, I know I'd get a disease."

Actually, don't do it. It'll just turn the thread into a meaningless cesspool of he said/she said.
