Villian is a 60-ish female. She plays $30-$60 lowball in the mornings 3 days a week and is currently waiting for her $30 Stud seat. She plays tight and is a thinking player. She doesn't speak much at the table but I have a feeling she recognizes that I am the only other person at the table with any clue. We've played maybe a half hour total together and this is her first hand of this session.

2 limps, villian raises her post in the CO, SB calls, I call in BB with 67

Flop comes 568 Checked to villian who bets, SB calls (100% positive he has nothing), I c/r, 2 folds, villian calls, SB folds. Now heads up.

Turn is 8 I bet, she raises, I 3 town planning on betting almost any river.

I don't like it. Her hand looks an awful lot like an 8 or an overpair, and I don't think you'll get her to fold either one. If she was scared of you having and 8, she probably would just call down from the turn - if you try to convince her now, the pot going to be so bloated that she'll probably just crying call down.

I also don't love the flop c/r.

i also dont get the point bet/3betting? was it as a bluff or 4value (for example if she is raising OC with fd)? i mean if anybody would fold an overpair to this action, poker really would be a too simple game...i like the c/r on the flop though, 2 people fold and the 6 still could be good +equity against and overpair is good, too >45%.

She's just not fsd'ing you enough to make this. She won't fold an overpair and if she's got AK or AQ its better to let her bluff the river

the 3b is ok if you think she is the type to autoraise the turn when the board pairs. a lot of people are doing this now.
However, I don;t think following through on the river if called will accomplish anything desirable.

why are they doing this?
